I’ll try this again, my apologies if the last tweet sounded incentive, I just can’t imagine another team having to deal with so much off the field.
It obviously hits a little to close to home for a brother.

Don't take this as defending Ruggs in any way, but there isn't anything he could have done at that point once that car is already engulfed in flames. At least he didn't try to flee the scene.

Agree with you on this here. Also, he was probably really dazed and confused from the wreck and physically unable to do anything either.
In no way I am defending him. I think he should go to jail for a long arse time.

I recall several threads on the OT where the subject of drinking and driving came up. Some posters got indignant that others were telling them that was a shitty thing to do. They acted like it was no big deal and the ones calling them out were just uptight or prudes. Wonder if they're reconsidering?

It is stupid and selfish, but prior to Uber and the like, it was understandable how you could get yourself in these situations. I think a lot of us would admit getting behind the wheel when we shouldn't have. I was probably borderline over the limit a few times, but never completely s-faced. Luckily, I had enough sense not to get behind the wheel when I was obliterated. I have no idea how you could be this blasted and consider driving.

Former #Raiders WR Henry Ruggs is accused of driving 156 mph seconds before the crash. He was at 127mph when airbags deployed. His blood alcohol level was .161, which is more than twice the legal limit. A loaded gun was also found in the car.
Holy. shite. Bankrupt this MFer for all he is worth. And then keep him rotting in jail until he’s breathed his last.

Add another wrecked life. This dude will have PTSD having had to observe/hear a young woman scream as she burns to death. Can’t imagine. Can’t imagine at all. This dude will be in therapy for awhile.

The Raiders should probably go radio silent. What a dumbass callous thing to double down on. Another team? How about another family whose life got wrecked because of some POS drunk. Carr should not have opened up the Twitter.

Yeah, luck is the only reason I haven’t driven into the back of a car going 157mph while drunk.

How many posters were defending going 150 mph while more than double the BAC limit on a residential road?

In a just world, he would go to prison for 20+ years. In the celebrity world, he’ll probably get sentenced to 5 and out in less than 1.

Perhaps, but he wouldn't have been able to help anyway because he was so intoxicated.

I think it's a binary in that driving drunk is always a bad thing, but the severity of the offense in my mind is correlated to how impaired you are. There is a spectrum here that ranges from severely irresponsible to reprehensible.

Derek Carr said he and Hunter Renfrow, avid golfers when not playing quarterback and receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders, received a text message with a video attached from Henry Ruggs III late Monday night.
"A golf swing," Carr said Wednesday of the contents of the message from Ruggs, who had been at sports entertainment venue Topgolf and asked, "'How's my swing look? You guys need to help me.'
"Just seeing that and then getting the news when we woke up, how am I supposed to handle that? How am I supposed to react?"

This criminal ruined a person’s life.
Prayers sent to woman, the dog and their family.

In a just world, ruggs lives on house/work arrest, with handlers he pays for, and donates most of his career wages to the family.

I’m a big proponent of safe driving. Drunk or not. Irresponsible drivers who put lives in danger, sober or not, deserve HEAVY punishment IMO. It’s something I don’t think we care enough about.
I think weaving in and out of traffic at 100 should land you a WAY stiffer punishment than flawless driving at .08. I can’t stand people who drive aggressively.
I wouldn’t be upset at all if Ruggs somehow received more than the 20 year max. He deserves it.
But I can’t help but feel bad for him. Especially after the what Carr said.
