I wouldn’t be upset at all if Ruggs somehow received more than the 20 year max. He deserves it.

But I can’t help but feel bad for him. Especially after the what Carr said.

I agree. Its horrific for the girl and her family, but it is very sad to see someone throw their life away in such a reckless manner. Obviously he has to be punished to the fullest extent of the law. I just hope that he can somehow devote his life to making the world a better place. He has a very tough road ahead for himself.

What kind of mistakes is kadarius making in his free time?

I’m all for trying to give understanding and forgiveness but 156 mph on a residential street isn’t a mistake. It’s not playing on the edge. It’s not even reckless- it’s far beyond the highest levels of benefit of the doubt about this young mans character.

Hopefully his passenger recovers and raises his son to be a better man. Hopefully he strives to be better himself every day. But society should clearly and loudly condemn his actions.

Life in prison. Anything less is a joke

He's not eligible for life in prison, but apparently his girlfriend was in the car with him, and her injuries were severe, as well, so that could result in him receiving two DUI charges, one with "resulting in death" and one with serious bodily harm. Those two alone could get him 30 years, I believe. If they don't plea bargain and give him charges for the reckless operating, criminal speeding, loaded weapon in the car, etc...they can probably max him out in the 60-80 year range.

Tina was alive and screaming while her body burned in that Toyota. Her car was sent almost 600 feet in distance upon impact. I could certainly understand if they gave him an 80-year sentence.

A buddy has an older model 10’ tricked out and we were doing 165 on I59 going to Ruston, LA. A two lane and the speed limit was 80. I told him to shut it down! I can’t even imagine how in the hell Ruggs survived!!

Yeah kudos to the frunk designers, I would have thought it would make for less resistance and just easily caved into cockpit versus having a motor there and this would have been 3 deaths but instead the Vette passengers walk away.

The guy was fricked up, obviously not in sound decision making frame of mind. It would be worse in my opinion if he did this sober.

Fox 5 Vegas is saying he faces multiple felony chargers, for the DUI resulting in death,DUI resulting in the seriously injury of his girlfriend, and the reckless driving. He faces up to 46 years in prison.

Is that accurate?

I hate how our justice system slices up portions of the same act/crime to increase punishments.

I hate this.

Can any lawyer explain the logic in it?

Multiple victims and multiple offense and run the sentences consecutively instead of concurrently

He wasn’t blackout wasted comatose drunk and accidentally holding the gas down while totally out of control.

He was going 156 miles per hour.

I can’t stress enough the lack of excuses for that. Even at .16 bac.

156 dude. On a scale of 1-10 does his bac bring this down from 14 to 13 bad?

They use it as leverage. He’ll plead and get 20.

I don’t think someone should be punished outside of their direct actions.

And if it is acceptable to tack on consecutive sentences I think we should lower max sentences.

I’m fine with a max 46 year sentence for what Ruggs did.

I’m not ok with creating different crimes for his actions.

If he got drunk and fired a gun into a crowd would you be opposed to him being charged for each person hit as well as gun charges?

I think deciding to shoot a gun into a crowd is a crime that deserves a certain sentence.

I think driving 156 mph blackout drunk is a crime that deserves a certain sentence.

For the 2nd one id say you deserve about 27 years.

For the first one I’d say you deserve death.
