#Raiders WR Henry Ruggs III was booked into Clark County Detention Center this afternoon.

Henry Ruggs accident: The woman who died was only 23 years old. Cops tell us Ruggs was travelling at a high rate of speed & veered into the lane where the Rav4 was travelling, causing the crash. The woman was trapped in the car when it caught on fire. She was dead on the scene.

Babcock again

Ruggs' GF was a passenger in his Corvette, and cops say she suffered serious injuries.

ESPN article

quote:

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was released from a hospital and to a Las Vegas jail ahead of an initial court appearance Wednesday on multiple felony charges after a fiery predawn vehicle crash that left a woman dead and Ruggs and his female passenger injured, police and his attorney said.

Ruggs, 22, and his passenger were hospitalized with unspecified injuries that police said did not appear life-threatening after the Chevrolet Corvette he was driving slammed at high speed into the rear of a Toyota Rav4 on a busy thoroughfare in a residential area several miles west of the Las Vegas Strip about 3:40 a.m. Tuesday.

The Toyota burst into flames and the driver and her dog died, police said. The woman was not immediately identified.

The more info that comes out the worse it gets man.

Cops say the driver of the Toyota got trapped in her seat and was not able to escape the vehicle before flames engulfed it. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police added.

This makes it sound like the woman was alive, which makes sense even from a hard rear collision and burned alive trapped. Yeesh.

Sad situation all the way around. 22 year olds are known to make bad decisions you just hate to see it cause harm to another and to themselves so severely. Prayers for the victim and their family as well as Ruggs and his family.

I’ve made some dumb decisions at a young age. But I guess it has to do with, especially in males, your brain isn’t fully developed in your early 20s and affects your impulses.

Poor decisions really can change your life and others in a flash.

I'm still really curious as to why her car caught on fire so easily. A spark from the collision ignited the fuel from the fuel tank?

It can happen if hit just right, I had a cousin and his wife and kids who died that same way, and he was sitting at a red light in his minivan. A dude blew through a red light and hit their gas tank head on causing it to explode (it's a weird five way stop out here in Scottsdale that allowed the dude to pretty much them dead on like that).

No sympathy at all for assholes DUI and at high rates of speed. Vehicles are a dangerous privilege that much be respected. He should serve jail time but as an athlete, probably escapes it unlike your everyday normal.

Are Yall this fricking stupid? “Upon his release from the hospital, he was arrested.” So you really need them to put in print the hospital drew blood and the results showed he was fricked up?

Every single NFL is given a card with a phone number that grants them no questions asked limousine service anytime, anywhere. Players are given and educated about the card annually.

Zero excuses for any NFL player to do this.

I’m curious whether he lost control because of alcohol or because of speed, but either way he was over the limit and killed someone.

Based on the SI photos, it doesn't matter.

Even if Ruggs was stone-sober, an accident caused by speeding ("high rate of speed") is a prison sentence.

He killed someone with his car by not obeying rules.

Personal injury attorney Matt Hoffmann, co-owner of Battle Born Injury Lawyers, says in his opinion there was little doubt investigators had cause to arrest Ruggs and charge him with DUI resulting in death.

"I think he's going to lose everything he has," Hoffman said. "I think he's going to lose his career. I think he's going to spend a minimum of ten years in prison, and financially, between the lawsuits and paying his criminal attorneys, I think he's going to lose everything he has."

Would you like to bet a significant amount of money on it?

Or the short answer to your question, yes.
