Why do you need someone to comment on a play that you just watched? It’s not radio

I forgot about the Manning Bros. broadcast, flipped to what I thought was ESPN, and enjoyed theirs more than the actual broadcast. Just give those guys the duties.

When it's my team I want constant coverage of the actual game.

It's been a while, but it felt the same way when Bill Walton would commentate our basketball games.

If that’s the take, then what you should really be asking is “why don’t you just mute the TV”?

And the answer to that is that (good) cometary adds value to what you’re watching.

I was referring to play by play. That’s really my point on the Manning’s. They don’t do play by play. But they generally watch and comment. Good commentary is fine. If they don’t say, “there is a one yard gain on a run up the middle” on a play where I just watched that happen, it doesn’t bother me like it did the poster I was responding to

My wording was bad but I am referring to the play-by-play. I would like commentary on what actually happened during a specific play rather than one of the Mannings telling a story of sorts. Granted, I am only referring to games where the team I root for is playing. Overall, I have really enjoyed their broadcast.

MNF is stuck with the matchup and can't hide it or change it.

Back in the day you had to have had a good season to get on MNF the next year. So typically you had good matchups between the better teams in the league.

When did this change? Does every team get a chance to play on MNF now?

MNF went to shite when ESPN got it from ABC.

Steve Leevy is the worst announcer.
Worse than Beth Mowins, by far.

remember when Sunday night football was on espn and mnf was on abc. Sunday night football was an afterthought and mnf was the big draw. That’s been reversed.

This is very true.

The NFL in general is boring if you ask me. Crowds aren’t loud and there’s none of the pageantry like college football.

If you took an average NFL fan who’s never been to a college game and put him in a Saturday night in Jordan Hare, Death Valley, Bryant Denny, etc., they’d be blown away by the noise and the scene.
