its easy to go fast on short distances, great for toys to have fun with

the issues are very limited range for long distance travel and 8 hr recharge times make then useless for transportation use.

EVs are fun and fast and fine for somebody with a 30 minute or so commute

They cannot be your only car though unless you never drive more than 100 miles from your house

Basically, they are urban vehicles. A guy like me who drive 150 miles then parks his car for days or weeks with no place to charge it, just could not use one unless it is a hybrid, if I were actually interested in one anyway.

Cool. The wife and I have been to the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Very fun. We went in 2018 when Porsche was the featured manufacturer.

350KW charging has changed the game with wait times. You can now charge to 80% in 15 minutes. Faster charging is also in the works which will bring the time down to under 10 minutes.

People are quick to shite on ev. I bet their ancestors were plowing with mules and riding horses to town, talking shite about the shortcomings of the early tractors and Model Ts.

And they probably really roasted those dumbass Wright Brothers. “Damn thing is a nice toy, but it has no practical use.”

They don't let F1 cars run for the fast time as they are concerned about them getting into the crowd.

Saying that, I saw someone claim that this electric fan car, it has a fan creating downforce which is part of the reason it is quick, was limited to 150MPH max for the same reason for the Goodwood FoS.

Sometimes I feel like TD has bots.

This is one of those times.

Sure, they can. Why couldn't they?

I make a 10 ish hour family road trip to go skiing every year. Last 2 years we went once in our EV and once in our Grand Cherokee. With kids and having to make stops and eating and all that good stuff, that 10 hour trip was maybe 30-40 minutes longer in the EV.

A horse to a car is technological upgrade.

No airplane to an airplane is a technological upgrade.

An ICE to an EV isn't even close to those changes.

An electric vehicle isn't improving what ICE vehicles already do, and in many ways some would argue its a step back. Your comparison is ridiculous and doesn't make sense.

Horse to a mule would be an upgrade, but someone probably argued that mules can't reproduce so they wouldn't get one.

I drive 100+ miles multiple days per week. Never had an issue with both EVs I've owned

There is a reason locomotives use electric drive. Torque is phenomenal in electric motors.

There is also a reason Diesel engines power the electric motors.

I wouldn’t mi d an EV but would need an ice truck for towing the boat/travel. Solid state batteries would be better. Their technology is improving.

I don’t think you will ever see an actual dollar difference due to what EVs cost. Also a bit of a concern for resale down the line. Nobody knows how they will depreciate. Battery replacement will be costly.

I have a 2021 F150 Lariat. Comparaby equipped lightening would be about $23,000 - $26,000 more. That will buy a lot of gas. However, driving past the gas station and plugging in at home has a quality also.

Full torque from a dead stop. That is why EVs accelerate from a stop so quickly.

Electric locomotives are actually better for operations, and more powerful, but the necessary infrastructure such as the overhead catenary is prohibitively expensive for private companies.

You see lots of electric in Europe but they are nationalized.

That thing is ridiculously fast. Through the straight aways it looked like the video was set 2x speed. Its incredible how fast we can make these things go.

When 1 can complete the 24 hours at Le Mans without exchanging batteries at stops, meaning they either have the range or a fast charging ability, then I might start paying attention to them as a serious thing.
