Take Auburn off the list. We got our QB

How much were they paying to go to school? How much were they paying for housing? How much are they paying for food/nutrition? How much were they paying for the professional speed and strength training they received daily?

This is unpossible.
I was led to believe that Will Wade is the only major college coach to use means of questionable integrity to recruit.

They said Will Wade paid $200,000 to a kid who grew up 15 minutes from campus to attend LSU. What was the offer from Kentucky that Wade had to match or top? If a Will Wade was the only coach in college basketball doing this he would have never lost out on a recruit, right?

Schools are paying...maybe the first two months of the NIL deal and then companies are backing out.
This is working no different than old bag money promises that evaporate once the guy has been on a campus and playing.
Transfer portal says hello.
You stop paying, well in on the next train out

Why would a college football player not take that kind of money?

For some reason I think one team is Notre Dame.

Because he's the likely No. 1 or No. 2 player drafted next year and his family are generations of UNC graduates, including his brothers (one is on the basketball team now).
A prominent alumni, especially an NFL QB, can make way more over his career due to his relationship to his state and prominent boosters. Why would he trash that over $5 million?
I bet Peyton Manning has made $50 million or more, due to his relationship with Tennessee.
Some of you people are way to short-sighted.

But, but, these kids just need some change in their pockets to take a date to the movies. They can’t even afford McDonald’s on the weekends.
This is more about suppressing their ability to get endorsement money

This has nothing to do with that.

Exactly.
Only fools thought there opening up the opportunity for college athletes to make a few bucks off of their “name, image, and likeness” wouldn’t immediately turn into a free for all that becomes buying players and recruits.
“But that was already happening.” So why was there a need to open up Pandora’s box?
Politicians made this happen. Those people ruin everything they touch.

College football is long gone as we once knew it….. this is really a sad day for an old school guy like me. It’s bad enough that we have almost 40 bowls each year but when a 5-7 Rice team gets in one it makes the regular season moot except for about 15 programs.

Were you under the impression that it wasn't a free for all before?
The only difference is that people are putting a name to the money now and the kids don't get penalized for getting caught accepting it.
Like you're insane if you think Gordon is only just now bankrolling LSU players.

They did last year when USC stole their Bilentikoff winning receiver.
The NCAA laughed at them.
