Not with that Cristobal coaching.

Nope, it's all about cable companies and streaming services acquiring assets. Viewership for those specific sports is only a part of that, not ultimately all that matters.

Generally boosters. If a big donor is now giving his money to the QB, instead of to TAF for facilities upgrades, then that hurts.

Trust me, the majority of the boosters aren't seeing a dent in their accounts for what they are paying for NIL.

You're missing the mark here.

But he's staying at UNC for $0, get the frick out of here. Let's not forget how dirty of school we are talking about here, the ball might be a different shape but the cheating is the same.

Your insinuation is that NIL is some completely new revenue stream, unrelated to any other and unencumbered by the financial demands of other sports and departments?

That is unsupported by any facts, and is completely counter to what athletic administrators believe.

So in summary, TV doesn’t need viewers and donors have unlimited money and don’t care how it’s spent.

Does that cover it?

Lol... Yep, as much as I hate what this is doing to college football, it's kind of funny to see how it's so quickly turned into everything some people said it would never be.

"They're just gonna sell some autographs and get money for jersey sales with their names on it"... Yeah... that's all they're gonna do.

Now people want reform. Good luck with that.

I remember those people. I laughed at them.

He's an idiot if he declines that unless North Carolina is paying up.

I think this is true to a degree, even Saban.

I think a lot of coaches that aren't routinely winning are making shite up to embellish upon their issues. He may have been offered a deal worth "up to $5 million" but in reality its no where close to that.

I was downvoted for saying it was Notre Dame tampering with Maye. I’m sure Sam was second on the list.

ND accused of cheating to land Sam Hartman

Tampering only exists in the minds of scorned fans.

I’ve seen no person or organization with any authority make any attempt to penalize or even send a strongly worded email to any coach in violation.

Until proven wrong, I’m going to assume anyone making tampering accusations is a non-serious person that should be ignored.

Been hearing this for awhile now. Cristobal is a joke. They got boatraced by Middle Tennessee.

I have no idea what he was or was not offered, nor what UNC paid him to stay.

But the idea that he would turn it down is not a ridiculous concept.

He’s possibly the No. 1 player drafted in a year and could sign a $40 million contract.

He has a support staff at UNC that he’s apparently comfortable with. His family are generational UNC alumni. His brother is currently on the UNC basketball team.

Why throw variables into your future?

Why risk future money for present money that, while large, is a fraction of your future earning potential.

New school, new teammates, new offense. Lots of things can go wrong.

That doesn’t even include a life-long affiliation with UNC that would be worth way more than $5 million.

He would just be a hired gun at his new school.

Not saying it happened, but I would advise my son to stay in a similar situation.

And he could also possibly be injured next year and have his career ended.

You take the 5 million, period.

Insurance exists, bro.

And there is no “period” to any of this.

Different people, different situations, different goals, different lives, different families.

Big mistake to project yourself into this and say anything other than what you would do is wrong.

Sometimes, and actually very often, the payoff today is not the best move.

All of this.

The Maye family is Carolina royalty. Dad Scott is a Top 3 player in UNC football history. Brother Luke was part of a national title winning basketball team. Brother Beau is a current basketball player.

NFL $$>>>> NIL $$. Drake will likely be a Top 5 pick in next year's draft.
