Fair. Still, I was hoping for these type of players it would be a younger, in their prime type of player. No doubt we got much better though

Arrigheti and Gilbert gone.
I see Gilbert and a fringe prospect being reported, but nothing about Arrigheti yet.

Gilbert and Clifford according to mlbtv

Yeah I’m not sure it’s worth JV, even coming off a CY season, for 2 of our top 4 prospects.

BAGWELLS ASTROS

Agreed. Astros are win now mode. Don’t really care about losing Gilbert.

I’m not well versed in the contract angle, but does the money the Mets pay for Verlanders contract count against their cap or our cap in terms of the luxury tax?

Theirs I believe but I might be wrong

Lol. What a shitty deal. I don't care how much the Mets are paying. JVs full salary counts against the Astros luxury tax number regardless.

The money paid in salary by any team counts against their tax.

I don't mind sending Gilbert, but would've liked to keep clifford at least
Posted on 8/1/23 at 2:07 pm to High C
Yeah I dunno if I like that Gilbert inclusion

God bless. If it's anything short of the Mets paying the whole contract, they're laughing all the way to the bank

Clifford higher ceiling than Gilbert.

Exactly
I hope JV shoves my doubts up my arse
But from where I'm sitting, all feels fine and safe from danger

Two top prospects for a guy that you let walk in the off-season
I know we didn’t anticipate all the injuries and stuff but still
