This would lock in the G6 schools permanently and would prevent any new schools from moving up to P4.

So are we making two separate “leagues” now?

Might as well since this would permanently lock in the league memberships.

I also wonder if right before this passes (if it looks like it will pass) if the ACC / Big12 will add a handful of schools since they won't be able to moving forward. Like a last minute invite to Memphis / Tulane / etc...

Why do we keep having to act like the Big 12 and ACC belong on the same level as SEC and B1G

sun belt finally got its act together at the end of the last decade and every thing went against them since. Real shame

A provision that permanently freezes conference membership?

Texas Tech lobbyists doing work to make sure the Big 12 wouldn't be able to kick them out if they had proceeded with playing Sorsby

honestly, football needs to splinter off.

Everything else works fine but the money in football is insane, there are too many teams and you can’t lay a 64 team tournament.

we need a super league.

So to prevent a new super league from forming we have to formally lock in the current de facto super league

No one with integrity would.

But it’s mostly public universities and those Reps/Senators have to eat too if this thing’s getting passed

A separate league helps the Sun Belt if there is a playoff system.

That would be a terrible idea.

A school that commits to building a program won't be rewarded for it and a school that's already in can rest on its laurels and mooch off its conference mates.

If they could be protected from poaching in some ways that level of football would be better than P4 NIL era.

Hurricanes made it to the championship game, 3-0 vs SEC

That should be the case. In no world is Acron and Ohio St or ULL and LSU playing the same sport.

I agree. I’m all for P4 teams only playing other P4 teams, but there has been pushback against that.

I don't see them adding a bunch of mid-tier schools that don't bring any serious new revenue but they will still have to share their money with, unless it is at a substantial discount (i.e., not a full share, or at least ramping up slowly over several years).

not quite.

you can still poach a team from another conference as long as the conference you're robbing from still meets a minimum number of members (not sure what that minimum is though).

and you cannot merge with an entire other conference.
