Aggie is always on the "best jobs in college football" list and have nothing to show for it.

It's overhyped, and always has been, just like their team.

Very true, but NIL is only a few years old. Im already tired of hearing coaches complain that the other team pays more after every loss.

I mean if they want to give him a raise and take him I hope we dont get into a bidding war but knowing us this will cause us to give him a 10+ year contract all because he's 6-0

Elko would really have to want to leave.

Penn St. has money but they aren't going to just outbid A&M for him.

This screams like an agent leak to get him and the agent more money.

Yep. Any big opening, coaches use agents and media to get a raise.

After Rhule, Elko has been the next name off most people's lips since Sunday. He might even be the more appealing candidate of the two right now.

The most popular name has been Curt....then Rhule. Campbell is also up there.

Yea idk why there is a subset of people trying to push Elko but hey, if Penn State wants to give him a raise and help us start digging out of that Jimbo buy out by all means

I think it's either elkos agent pushing it or the people trying to be 'smart' by throwing out kind of a wildcard.

These conversations make more sense if you know who the agents are for these coaches.

Some may want the job, some may just want a raise where they are. Some could be smokescreen entirely.

Penn State is not a better job than Texas A&M in the current climate of college athletics.

If the goal is making playoffs then PSU is a better job

SEC is a meat grinder

Are we sure that Penn St. is the better job at a better program?

I think it would be crazy to leave A&M with him having them ranked in the top 5 and knowing the kind of money A&M and their boosters are willing to spend on athletics.

But it would be hilarious if another A&M coach was planning to take another job and already had one foot out the door while they’re having their best season in decades.

ETA: but I think a lot of this is the agents behind the scenes creating chatter to try to make these coaches’ current schools panic and offer extensions with a raise and bigger buyout
