It’s pretty simple. He gave LSU the greatest season ever along with embracing the state. LSU fans want to see him do well and cheer for him. Nothing weird or cringe about it. I have always cheered for former LSU players in the NFL. It helps LSU every time one of them is mentioned. LSU has the highest profile players as a group in the league at the moment.

What is this? You do realize that he never was on the conference call or whatever that thing was that those guys were doing, right? I've seen pictures with Joe and Trump laughing and talking together. Maybe you should just stop trying to act like you know what everyone's political leanings are.

You got everything figured out though don't you. Imagine rooting for a player based on his political preferences. Then imagine you know what guys political preferences are. Hint.. if it's trump they won't say that anyway. You won't know,9 times out of 10

So I’m not allowed to root for both? Rarely do they ever meet or have their wins effect each other’s goals.

I pull for Joe Burrow and the Bengals whenever it does not adversely affect the Saints which is almost never.

yeah, i don't get it either...

i'm very appreciative of what he did while here at LSU, but me supporting his team ended when he got drafted... i hope he personally does well, but to all of a sudden become a fan/supporter of a club i've never supported before one singular player got there is just a bridge too far, IMO

nothing alike. Lake Charles to Houston is a 2 hour drive. what MLB team should people from LC root for if not the Stros?

Also Burrow's undefeated season at LSU was a bright spot after some rough disappointing years under Les. It only makes sense to root for him in the NFL after what he did for LSU

Hard to be a fan of a player and not root for his overall team.

guessing those folks are from outside NO and don’t really care for the city.

Doubtful. Almost nobody moves TO Nola.
Not a dig. It’s just not a growing city.

More likely it’s people for whom 2019 was the highlight of their life, so they follow around a guy, who frankly is fairly douchey.

Ditching the Saints is stupid, but there's nothing wrong with having a Team B in another conference.

Any Saints fan who started their fandom pre-Payton always had a team B.

So I follow the Bengals loosely but will never ditch the Saints. If the Saints are playing the Bengals and a Bengals win gains them a playoff berth while a Saints loss does not affect the Saint's playoff positioning I will still pull for the Saints.

Where it will get weird is if he ever were to end up on Falcons or something.

Yeah, then I will not pull for him to win.

ETA: I have always liked the Bengals from back in the Ken Anderson at QB days. Oddly enough my backup teams during my Saints fandom were Cincy, KC, and Oakland.

For most of Louisiana, the Astros are the closest MLB team. Reasonably short drive over there. It’s not hard to understand unless you have trouble understanding geography, which you obviously do.

No I just think it’s funny pulling for a team in a city that hates you.

There are people here in West Texas that are Chiefs fans solely because of Mahomes.

They are only just more tolerable than cowboys fans

many fans dgaf about NFL. The saints are a hard team to remain a fan of and I love the saints. If i had to choose which team I want to win more every week it would always be LSU over the Saints.

If you want Burrow to succeed, then you want the Bengals to succeed. He can’t without the other. If you want the Bengals to succeed, you are a fan of the Bengals.

So you are a Bengals fan. Why?

This isn't being a fan. This is driving down the interstate and deciding which exit you hit for fast food.

It's fine because our beloved Saints will always be my sun, my moon, and my stars.
