Can someone explain the LA residents who are huge Bengal fans because of Burrow?

I am a fan of Burrow myself and hope he has a ton a success in the NFL but I am not Bengals fan. I see a small group of LSU fans who have full on ditched the Saints and become huge Bengal fans. I am talking traveling to Cincy for games and decked out in Bengals gear. What happens when Burrow retires? Do you stop being a fan? It is a odd thing.

I’m guessing those folks are from outside NO and don’t really care for the city.

Ditching the Saints is stupid, but there's nothing wrong with having a Team B in another conference.

Where it will get weird is if he ever were to end up on Falcons or something.

I watch some of thier games and root for them unless they are playing the Saints or the Bills.

Kamala Joe Burrow being so odd has seen me remove the Bengals as my AFC team and replace them with a mixture of Jets (Arod), Chiefs (Mahomes, Butker), and Bills (our Joshie).

Saints will always be #1A.

Same thing that happened to the BR Dolphins fans from 2005.

Growing up in BR in the 80's, the Saints were never on TV because they couldn't sell out the stadium, and BR was within the blackout zone. I didn't grow up in NOLA, and never saw the saints play, so I never really became an NFL fan.
On the contrary I had season tickets to LSU so was obviously an LSU fan. I'd be happy for the Saints as LA's pro team when they did well, but didn't live and die with each win and loss like I did with LSU.

As an LSU fan I also root for NFL success of former LSU players. Combine that with Fantasy Football's psychological influence of player success > team, and you can see how a lot of LSU fans like the Bengals. I wouldn't say I like them more than the Saints, but I'm similarly happy for them when they do well.

If they played each other in the SB, I would enjoy Chase and Burrow playing well, but I'd prefer the Saints to win.

And it's probably the same people on here dogging the Auburn/Panther fans during the Cam years.

Coastal MS was a huge Greenbay stronghold when Favre played…couldn’t even find the Saints on and were an hour away from the Dome. If Burrow grew up here it would be much worse.

I mean you literally just answered you own question before you even got to the end of the sentence. There's nothing else to explain.

People love joe burrow as an individual player --.> those people now pull for the team burrow plays for professionally. It's no different than AU fans that became panthers fans after cam.

Everyone is concerned about our democracy being taken away from us. Doesn’t the democracy that we are all fighting to save allow us to be a fan of any team we want? Just checking

It’s fun having a 2nd team. It’s fun watching Chase and Burrow still playing together.

I don’t think these people you are so upset about are serious fans. They are just having fun and maybe bought a jersey. I can tell you on SEC rant, teams love whichever team is starting their old QB. This is NOT an LSU phenomenon.

Most Louisiana people from outside New Orleans aren't die hard saints fans, they're bigger LSU fans. Heisman winner Burrow and Chase go to the same team after winning a NC, so people cheer for the bengals. The treatment of Brees in the latter years turned a lot of people off too.

Is this something you really needed explained?

Bet those people would be rooting for the Cowboys instead if it wasn't for Burrow. Would you rather have that?

I now pull for both bengals and commanders bc of burrow and daniels. It’s nice to have more than just the saints especially bc they haven’t been that good lately.

This year has been a nice positive surprise for saints.

Adults who overvalue another unrelated adult are weird.
