The USFL has been experiment with rules that the NFL eventually adopts. I wonder if they would ever go to the drastic experiment of going without helmets. That's always an argument that get brought up that players would be a lot more cautious if they didn't have armor to launch at people. Well, I know they will never do it, but I'd like to see it.

Skattebo would do it without a helmet.

He’s nuts. And I love it. Dude is a throwback.

Derrick Henry has respectably trucked dozens of defenders the same way and never been called for it.

Egregious.

Are they trying to make people quit watching football?

The reffing bitchfest has generated more buzz than the games ever did.

Brady? You mean part owner of the Raiders?

He shouldn’t even be allowed to broadcast.

Yep, I remember him getting flagged for it 15 years ago.

No, no, no, they just called it for the first time because of racism.

Why not? Is he going to influence Raider games from the booth?

No, but he has unfettered access to teams and players throughout the season to gain potential opponents’ information from their players and coaches.

The only logic I put to this is that he lowered and led his head. It’s more about protecting him than protecting the player he ran over.

There is no logic that can be applied to warrant a fricking flag on that clean arse football play.

Absolute clown world for throwing a flag.

None of them would be drafted today.

It's a shame because you don't see these types anymore.

The amount of flags thrown is ridiculous,

It's like flags are expected these days.

After a big play, announcers will even say," and there's no flag on the play"..

Sucks that NFL football has gotten to this....

Jacob Hester sounded off on this. Says just change it to flag football.

That’s clearly not true. You’re posting in an nfl thread at 8pm on an NFL Sunday.

You don’t just pop in and post about something you’ve ignored for 6 years.

I think the real story behind this type of play calling has to do with CTE. The league knows that brain injury is a real problem, and they are determined to not let it destroy the league. They don't want players using their helmets for anything.

Fred Warner leads with his head on just about every open field tackle he makes and is rarely called. Here are his highlights from the Washington game. The even picked up a flag that they had thrown on him for a helmet to helmet hit.

Larry Csonka got an unsportsmanlike penalty in the 70's before there was a "lowering the head" rule AND he didn't even lower his head.
