Cam made a lot of sense. I know, right.

It's a lot of money but over a lifetime you can blow through it.

Not at 20 years old it's not.

Let's say it is $5M. As you read, his family is heavily involved. How much do you think they want? Then buy a house, cars, wife. That few million he has left over is gone.

I assume Cam's point about money is that through his personal experience he believes many of these young players aren't making sound financial decisions with the money they're receiving in their early 20s and that it's much smarter to set yourself up for a good situation that prepares you for NFL contracts as opposed to seeking the highest dollar value no matter what when you're 20. Seems reasonable to me.

The Nico situation sounds like a familiar story of NBA/NFL players blowing their money on high-end cars, homes, distributing that wealth to their family and friends and crying poverty because they have nothing left.

Most people but at first most thought it would just be bags given out durining recruiting. NIL combined with the transfer portal is what put everything into overdrive. You can't restrict NIL the best option is deal with the transfer portal.

The whole thing was a pretty easy to see slippery slope.

NIL was an excuse to legally pay players because it was already so rampant in college football that it could no longer be governed properly.

Was better before when it was maybe $100,000 over 3-4 years. Now it’s completely out of control and more illegal activity than before.

If only this was Scam Newton money from 2010.....yeah that could make you comfortable for a year....help your Dad's business. 2-3 million gets you a nice house with a pool and outdoor kitchen.....in college.

Yeah I remember arguing with posters here that thought only a handful of players would get $500K type money

Never understood this criticism of Cam. Yeah, he's eccentric and dresses the part, but that mf'er has a whole gaggle of kids.

Doesn't Dwight Howard have a bunch of kids too?

Cam only got $180,000 to play at Auburn. That seems like a good amount to be comfortable.

He's not way off here though. This all started because college athletes said they didn't have time to work a part time job for extra cash and be able to go out and do things with friends. At least that was the talking point when Pryor traded OU gear for tattoos.

Players before NIL werent being paid millions of dollars under the table

My bad, I forgot I was on the MSB and not the Money Board.

Step 1: Don't give away your money to your family (why do I even have to type this)

Step 2: Live on 200k/year

Step 3: Invest the rest and over time your return will be greater than what you spend every year

Dwight is also fruity asf and been busted with trannies multiple times. Cam wears Darkwing Duck hats. Big difference.

Not at all. He never said he's out of money. He just wanted more because he thought he had leverage. That's not a situation dissimilar to millions of people.

How hard is it to put a cap on each kid’s earnings per year? That stops all the transferring for more money and holding schools and coaches hostage. Coaches could go back to coaching without worrying of hurting someone’s feelings.

And you should have to request to enter the portal because of a hardship reason. Or sit out a year…

Free agency in college sports is dumb.

His family is why he is in this situation!

He wants $4M a year now. I don't think he will be financially responsible.

Maybe for a corn-bred wrestler at Iowa who's just going back to the Farm after school.

But have you seen ESPN's 30 for 30 broke?

These athletes, professional sports culture, they're broke 10 minutes after signing their deal....gotta pay the gov, the agent, my stylist, wardrobe, buy Momma a house, buy brother and sisters Bentleys, 10 Rolexes for my "inner-circle"..... a fool and his money are soon departed. Forget English and History, only class athletes with a Pro future should be taking is " Money Management " and witness protection fro the 30 cousins you never knew you had.
