Not surprised. I don’t put no stock in one game. CC whooped warriors last year in game 1. It was nbd. Just one of 82. I am big picture.

I agree it was one game. I try to be a realistic Pels fan. That being said. I know we were on a heater from a FG% perspective last night, especially Niko, but I have to say it felt good to beat a team that should have been in the finals last year had CP3 not gotten hurt, on their court, in the first game.

Rockets will still win 55+ games this year, and probably beat the Pels more than the Pels beat them, but this was fun.

I’m happy for ya. Pels are my second or third team this year. Along with raptors.

You mean in terms of "teams you hope do well" or "best teams in the NBA" ?

This is the teams I follow most. Even with CC i always watch the game more as an evaluator than a fan.

Kind of sad to me, but I get it. That being said, how did you evaluate the performance of each the Pels and Rocks last night? Like get me some real analysis. Positives / Negatives from both? What do you see in the future for both?

I know you are a master level troll most of the time, but I do honestly think you have a real love of the game so I'm interested to hear your (please try to be) unbiased take.

Whooped?
The Rockets won by 1, and only won b/c Durant's shot he made came a split second after the buzzer.

I'm not one to overreact to one game, but Houston looks slow and really bad on defense. They will obviously win a lot of games b/c Harden and CP3 are that good, but the supporting cast isn't good anymore. I thought before tonight houston might take a step back, and when i mean a step back, i meant they aren't challenging GSW. They can finish 2nd in the west, but they aren't beating GSW, and may have a hard time winning 2 games against them, unless they add some help.

it's one game in to the year. guys are still trying to get in game shape. lets check back in 2 weeks after the allstar break and see where we are at.

dog days bubba. especially with the CC crowd at the astros game instead. the arena was dead last night.

the overreactions in this thread are impressive. please take the flapfest back to pels talk.

Well it gets without saying that the squad you open the season with isn’t the squad you take on GOAT with. But sometimes things that ‘go without saying’ need to be pointed out to the lower hoops iq posting populace here.

I agree that game 1 is not ever indicative of your whole season, but I saw that the Rockets have some serious issues defending any team that wants to get into the paint on a regular basis. Capela is a great player and their "lunch pail" guy for sure, but he can't be relied on to be the only inside presence for Houston. Someone else on that team has to find a way to play help defense in the paint and watch for cutters on top of someone besides Capela needing to be able to guard in the post. Tucker doesn't seem to be that guy right now.

To be fair, the Pels had the same problem when Davis was not on the court, giving up many open layups in a half court offense setting. I think their idea was to deny 3pt shooting more than inside moves, but it was unsettling to see.

The main deficiency the Rockets have right now is on the defensive side of the ball. Last year they were able to come up with stops and create points off turnovers. They lost that battle last night because Ariza and M'Bah a'int there anymore. I'm sure they will gel and figure it out as the season goes, but if I was a Rocks fan, I'd be a little worried.

Morey is a good GM, and while Houston will probably end up winning a fair amount of games, I really do not like that roster right now. I think Morey is going to have to make a trade and I'm sure he will.

Houston will be a good playoff team but they won't come close to GSW I don't think barring major injuries and moves. Defense is going to be too bad.

Ariza spent large amounts of time guarding/harrassing AD when they played, to be fair.
