this stupid argument again? Brady made Belichick, Brady leaves New England and wins in Tampa the next year.

Maybe you guys are too young to remember Brady's first 4-5 years as a starter but he was good top 10 worthy but wasn't the player throwing up 4k yards and 30 TD's. NE was just really solid top to bottom and would beat yo with great defense and exploit whatever weaknesses you had on D. Brady's SB MVP was a joke in 01 that Defense held the greatest show on turf to just 17 points was the star that day. Did Tom even have 150 yards passing that game?

You need a good QB to win a SB. But a good QB can't do it by himself. Those two made each other. Bill was able to put players on the field in positions to cause matchup problems and Tom was the perfect trigger man to put the ball where it needed to be. But 01, 03, and 04 SB seasons were all on the D.

Now I know for certain the HOF can't be taken seriously. They were already starting to let too many in, watering down the merit. This is a complete joke..

Whether you like what he's turned into or not, whether you think he won with Brady or not, you cannot tell the story of the NFL without Bill Belichik. He is the definition of a first ballot hall of famer. I'd honestly just turn it down if I was him and they reached out next year. He's above that.

Dan Fouts, Jim Kelly, Dan Morino, Fran Tarkenton and Warren Moon are all in the NFL Hall of Fame without one Super Bowl win. It takes more than a great QB to win six.

Bill is 100% responsible party for the giants SB win over the Bills

He shutdown the K gun offense. Nobody else could do that

Being a Giants fan, I get team related stuff on my X feed. I had a thing come through the other day talking about Bill's game plan for the K gun. Buffalo had scored over 40 and then over 50 points in their two playoff wins. Belichick's game plan was basically to allow Thurman Thomas to rush for over 100 yards and then mash the shite out of Bill's receivers every time a ball came in their direction. Keep the Bills on the ground, eating clock and prevent big scoring plays. It was a great defensive coordinator game plan. I would stop short of giving Belichick 100% credit, however, because it wasn't his team, the head coach was Bill Parcells.

So Brady was the beneficiary of cheating. Does this tarnish his image and chances to get in as the first ballot Hall of Famer?

People knock Phil Jackson? He’s considered a top 5ish coach of all time by every ranking I’m seeing on google.

He won how many Super Bowls? Played in how many?

Absurd to try and diminish that, because his QB was great.

Maybe it has to do with the cheating allegations, but this is most likely something political against him.

So difficult to got from MJ/Pippen to Kobe/Shaq, lol.

Not even close to the same thing as going from Brady to Mac Jones/Drake Maye.

Actually this answer from AI makes a ton of sense and makes it more understandable why he didnt get in..

quote:

Why he didn't get in:

The "Cheating" Factor: Multiple voters, including former GM Bill Polian, reportedly argued that Belichick should "wait a year" as penance for past scandals.

A Broken Voting System: The new 2026 format forced Belichick to compete directly against senior legends (like Roger Craig) and owner Robert Kraft for just three available spots. Voters likely prioritised the older candidates who might not get another chance.

Strategic Voting: Some voters assumed he was a "lock" and used their limited votes on other finalists instead.

The only decent excuse I’ve heard is that the waiting period was recently shortened for coaches from 5 years to one. It’s still a flimsy excuse, but at least there’s some historical context surrounding the reasoning.

So, Belichick will now have to wait two years to get in. Every other coach has had to wait at least five years. He might not have gotten in on the first ballot, but he’ll only wait a fraction of the time compared to any other coach.

He built a perennial loser into pretty much a dynasty from the ground up. What are your qualifications for a coach to make the HOF?

Basketball fans are dumb as rocks though

Phil is easily top 3 NBA coaches all time. But he actually has competition. There is no valid comparison for Belichick in the NFL. He blows everyone else out of the water

Belichick is:
- 6 time SB winning HC
- 6 time SB winning GM (how many can successfully do both?)
- 2nd most total victories by HC
- 9 total Super Bowl appearances as HC
- Throughout his 29-season career as an NFL head coach (including Cleveland and New England), Bill Belichick fielded an elite (top-5) scoring defense approximately 9 to 10 times and a top-10 scoring defense in roughly 16 to 23 seasons, depending on whether measuring by total points or efficiency (points per drive).

- as a DC, won 2 SBs

As a defensive mind he would have a shot at HOF status. No credit for his SBs as HC
As a GM, likely makes HOF within a few ballots
As a HC alone, should have been first ballot HOF
All of the above, absolute lock first ballot

Fire the voters. The list of voters is terrible
