One has had the most exciting moments in baseball history. Not just college baseball but even MLB. The other is boring soccer. Name one USA soccer moment that can compare to LSU baseball.

I'm not really sure what your argument is here

Soccer is fundamentally anti-human, or at least anti-primate, because it denies one of our biggest evolutionary advantages: the dexterity of our fingers.

And even worse it tacitly admits how stupid just using your feet is by letting the last line of defense, the goalkeeper, use his hands.

Until the US captures the attention and playing time of its best athletes , soccer will continue to be the pasty white boy sport for kids not good enough to play other sports.

Country versus country competitions are always awesome. When players are playing for something more than a paycheck it makes the games seem so much more meaningful. It’s why college football fandom was so fervent and the atmosphere and pageantry around the games so much superior to that if NFL venues.

That’s all changed now

I don't think you watch much soccer if you think it's purely about superior athleticism. There are some world class athletes who are terrible soccer players.

You think Messi could play any other sport?

Look at the rosters of the best teams in the world.

Americans have a major misconception that simply having better athletes entails superior outcomes. That's not true at all. There's a minimum amount of athleticism required and there are tactics that can feature superior athletes but it doesn't guarantee success.

That’s why the amount of skill required to be good at soccer is exponentially greater than say basketball. It’s one thing to cross up and break ankles like kyrie Irving who doing it with his hands, but go watch a clip on YouTube of geniuses like Ronaldinho, Messi, Neymar etc doing the same with their feet.

I will admit that I watch both and found them both highly entertaining

It probably helps that these two games were played when there were no other US sports happening

Premier League soccer is the perfect complement to college and NFL since the games are usually done well before noon.

I have read that America has a terrible system and structure for getting our best players to the highest levels of the game. After lower age youth soccer, the sport basically becomes pay-to-play, and you’re not going to get the best players when you’ve eliminated all except those of higher socioeconomic status.

It's an awesome sport. Grew up as diehard baseball as you can imagine. Made fun of soccer.

Got older and gave it a chance. The elite soccer players are some of the most tactically skilled athletes in the world. Beautiful game.

I think that is somewhat outdated. While the club teams in many areas are pay to play, the teams are also competitive as hell.

So you get situations where players are given “scholarships” to join programs because they are very good.

And then you have the MLS teams that have their own academies, and those are always scouting for poor kids who are great at soccer and live nearby.

So if you’re good enough, you will have your ride paid for, the same way that rich kids with obsessed parents help finance kids from Louisiana who play football for IMG.

That’s good to hear. I have absolutely no personal knowledge on how it works, just was going by what I’ve read and was told.
