How does that happen? Pitchers throw pitches that are off target all the time amd catchers react and catch them.
What was different this time that the catcher was caught off guard so badly?
Same reason pitchers strike a ton of guys out mixing pitches. Speed, movement, tunneling

Catcher in the post game said it was loud after the grand slam so maybe he hit the wrong button
He 100% does not believe this, but he is a true professional and handles his shite behind closed doors.

Oh heavens! How will we ever deal with this? Two men had a disagreement and one was kind of mean to the other! Someone get a large palm leaf and fan me, lest I faint.
Ok, why don’t you squat your fatass down and let me throw the equivalent of a 97 mph fastball right at your chest when you’re expecting something much slower.
You realize baseballs are hard and can hurt you right?

It’s more likely that Framber was going full Dawson’s creek on the inside and simply didn’t hear the pitch com over the sound if his own internal boohoo session.

And Volpe took it right down the middle

Never met a guy who would think of what you said, much less say it.

I've seen catchers leap up out of their crouch to catch wild pitches, and do so with regularity and you're saying he couldn't adjust about 1 ft. while still in his crouch to catch that pitch................

Framber got spooked by the Yankees

Framber was just another victim of the DONG BARRAGE!

I've never played catcher and I'm not a huge student of the game (just a regular MLB fan).
But I'm guessing if the catcher had no concept of what was coming, he'd of adjusted and caught it. He would have been reacting and would have been fully aware of the uncertainty instead of expecting something specific. But I see it as the pitcher essentially lulling his catcher to sleep and then drilling him.

Pretty clear that it was intentional after Framber just turned his back to the plate and walked back to the rubber after drilling his own teammate in the chest with mid 90’s gas.
Framber has a screw loose and always has.

He’s a top 10 pitcher. They’d get a lot for him.

No. He can be and was a Top 10 pitcher, AND they COULD'VE got a very high prospect for him
Too late now. And he begged to be traded.
Astros never entertained the thought. The unlikely team standing given all of the injuries and playing AAA players will and is causing regret.

This is not the DAT. Your average MSB poster can't be expected to understand, as some of these responses show.
Don't know baseball at this level, much less the Astros.

Let's extrapolate this to golf. The caddie tells the golfer to use a 9 iron. The golfer ignores him, uses a wedge, and puts the ball in the drink. Pissed off, the golfer than beats the caddie with a 3 iron.
