I wish these cities would stop being held hostage by sports teams. Let them go. Teams should pay for their own stadiums

How do these cities get a worthwhile Return on Investment from NFL teams that only play 9 or 10 home games a year ?
I can understand baseball where you have 80+ home games a year.
What they do is hire a fancy consulting to come up with a crazy ROI by extrapolating how special a tax district or some scheme will supercharge the area by turning it into a year-round entertainment destination. With the obligatory futuristic AI renditions of what it will never look like of course.

Move em up to Dayton.

Fentanyl can be their primary sponsor.

Would be the most dreadful outcome. I already kinda feel bad for the rams/chargers because you know no one actually gives a shite they’re even there at all.

It's still there, home to the UFL St. Louis Battlehawks.

Birmingham Bengals has a nice ring to it. Not sure if they could compete with the Stallions though.

I was going to say has the NFL eliminated San Diego as an option?

They’d have to build a new stadium.

San Antonio?
They might have more people, but they're a lot less likely to be able afford tickets than, say, Austin.

In terms of GDP, the Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) had a total GDP of $248.1 billion in 2023, while the San Antonio-New Braunfels MSA had a GDP of $150 billion in 2023.

Of course, Jerra would bitch, moan and complain to high heaven to the NFL is they were to put another team within 3 hours of DFW

This is the place in these threads where I note that the Chicago Bears owe MORE on their shitty stadium today, after paying on it for more than 20 years, than they owed at the outset. Daley was the gift that keeps giving for Chicagoans.

And they want another $1-2B stadium

It was a terrible NFL venue back in 2009 when I went to a Saints Rams game there.

Dark, dreary and depressing. Couldn't imagine how bad it's slipped in the 16 years since (most of them without a primary tenant).
