I’ve always been the one to pay my bills via bank account or debit card.

Debating moving all bills to a credit card then paying it off monthly.

I’m considering the points I’d earn.

I’m assuming it’s also easier to manage. You just set up auto pay and they all charge the card and then you pay it all off every 30 days.

Any tips?

Pros? Cons?

ETA: I’m with Chase and have the original Chase freedom so I’m trying to decide between Chase Freedom Unlimited and Chase Freedom Flex. They are almost identical except Unlimited has 1.5% cash back and Flex has 1% but Flex has some little things that Unlimited doesn’t have also.

More convenient. Pay off the CC every paycheck.

All bills go to Credic Cards then paid off…

Why would you pass on all the CC points? I’ve taken so many trips for free thanks to points.

I pay everything on credit card unless it adds a service fee. I pay off every full balance every month. I make about $1,000/year just on the points.

Bills that can go on CC should go on a CC if you are disciplined enough to pay off your CC each month.

That is free money.

Look into the US Bank Visa Cash Back card, they have 5% categories for utilities, internet, streaming, and phone. That's where all my bills go.

Cons

Make sure they don’t tack on a service fee for CC.

I want to pay my property taxes with a credit card and rack up the points, they wanted to tack on like a 5% service fee

I put as many as I can on there. If they charge a fee I will not go that route.

Fraud protection alone is reason number 1. Points is reason number 2. I have all my bills except truck note and mortgage on credit cards.

Any bill that doesn’t have an associated fee gets put on the credit card. Otherwise it is autodrafted from the checking account.

Did this for years. We spend per budget. We pay most expenses with credit card. Auto pay in full monthly. Use points to buy mag 7 stocks. Rinse & repeat annually.

Last time paid a CC finance charge was 1996 before auto pay was a thing and my thick head was late. Never happened again.

I put everything possible on a CC, pay it off monthly and get cash back at year end. It works for us.

I avoid using my debit or bank account to pay for things at all cost. I don't care if one if my CC gets hacked. Back account is another story.

Also the points help offset the fees especially of you pay attention to the point calendar.

CC points

Cons:
None that I can think of if you use the CC responsibly and are aware of your limits and such.

I pay everything with my credit card except my mortgage which would charge a big fee.

My card is set to auto pay the balance every month. It makes it easy to keep up with bills and charges all in one place and I get the points.

Only con is if you don’t pay it and get hit with interest.

I second the US bank card. Get 5% back on all utilities. Even the ones that want to charge a 2.5% fee, that still leaves me getting more cash back than any other option I know of.

Every single penny I spend is on credit card except mortgage & water bill (they want to charge me a convenience fee).

As long as they dont charge you a 3% processing fee there is essentially no reason to not put them on a credit card
