quote:so you'll lock in a loss and then buy lower? how does that make any sense?
I like it under 115, I do have a stop at 105 but will buy more if it drops into the low 90's.

quote:I'm not sure what this means. The part of the company one should care about is earnings, with the stock price indicating some value relative to that number.
Buy the company, not the stock price.
If you want to talk about future earnings, that's fine.

I think we'll probably see SpaceX become a $5 to $10 trillion company within our lifetimes.
Current money market rates can get you a 7X over 50 years.
But in any event, it's odd to scale your expectations off of the most maximalist interpretation of Musk's statements.
This might suit your needs as an investor, but for the average person taking a look at this name, there's no way anyone could recommend it as a buy.

How's that working out for people that "bought the company" at $220?
The mental gymnastics that people perform to justify/cope with losing their arses never ceases to amaze me.

First lockup release is tomorrow
900MM shares available to be traded, double the current float. Any rallies after that will trigger selling. This is a good opportunity to pay attention to how the market works
do not be exit liquidity

Yeah, it should be a down day tomorrow. If you own it hang on to it. It’ll be painful for a bit.

I mean that sounds cool, but I don’t get how it scales. There’s only so many satellites you can put into orbit before it become a pinball game. Even if you assume the number is infinite, you’re running a commodity or a utility. Even if you make it cheap, there’s only some many things anyone will want to pay to transport to space.
I won’t lie, I’d love fly some stuff to space, but I’d wouldn’t pay for the opportunity.
Starlink sounds cool, but I’ll stick with my faster and cheaper broadband.

The industries that will unlock once we have a base of operations from the moon is going to be insane. Space mining has massive potential.
Then you have things like Orbital Data Centers and tech we don't even know about yet that will need to go up in addition to or to replace what is already there.

Took a Southwest flight recently that was just upgraded with Starlink and it was incredible.
Even years ago Starlink unlocked remote work for so many in rural areas with bad internet. Its only going to get better and better.
They are quietly developing a monopoly on Maritime applications. its far better than existing technology.
Heck, when they yanked Russia's Starlink access in Ukraine you saw the war start trending in Ukraine's way for months until Russia could bandaid together an alternative that still wasn't as good as Starlink.
Several of their direct competitors have either already filed bankruptcy or the reaper is at the door. Telecom stocks nosedived after earnings on Tuesday.
I'm very bullish on the company if you can't tell

Everyone thinks Starlink is a great product. Except Space X itself is telling you that it is not the primary business. That is just a footnote in the earnings story.
If you are not talking about xA! and its path to profitability, you are investing in Space X for all the wrong reasons.
Capex and product alignment is all about enterprise adoption of xAI. When SpaceX was valued right after IPO near 2T. That was considered by SpaceX itself the ceiling of the Space and Connectivity business.

Wednesday extended an unbroken streak. SpaceX has yet to record a single day of net retail selling since its June 12 debut, Vanda said.

Retail investors bought $405 million during the first five sessions, compared with $103 million over the five sessions leading into earnings. But they never became net sellers.

So, when do the bears on SpaceX expect this thing to start cratering? Seriously asking, it seems to be holding relatively well today

52 Week High is 225
52 Week Low 104.
Current Price 108
Start cratering?
It's been cratering for the last 2 months

We don't really know when or what the bottom is.
Everyone thinking it was just going to tank today should have looked at pretty much every other time theres an easily predictable event involving a stock laid out on the calendar months in advance.... it gets priced in before the actual day of.
I figured I would drop some. I'm encouraged by the resilience. I wouldn't hate getting some more below $100.

Absolutely, my avg cost was a little under 112 so I will take a 6 dollar loss instead of a $20 loss a share. I will also buy back if it shows life. I don't keep buying down, its just bad math. Do you not use stops? I used to not. My NBIS triggered at 206.225 this morning. It is now at 197. If I buy back now I will have roughly 4 more shares than I did when I sold. I am going to watch it and see if it doesn't drop more before I get in. By my rule, I rarely buy back in the same day a stop hits.

So you love it at 115 but hate it at 105?
If you get stopped out at 105 and it pops back up to 115 are you going to buy it again at 115 and set another stop at 105?
Sounds like a great formula for losing money with a volatile stock.
If you believe in this piece of crap then why don't you just continue to average in as it drops?
