I like many was sick of Les for too many reasons to count. I just wanted him gone and felt this way for years. His firing was long overdue. When announcement was made that O was officially hired I had guarded optimism. His stent in Oxford was a long time ago and it was not a good fit... at all. He had all the intangibles to be a great fit at LSU. South Louisiana guy with many ties in the state; good recruiter; lots of coaching experience with successful teams; and passionate just like LSU fans. I was 100% on board with the hire. I couldn’t understand all the negativity when O was announced. I think most of the negativity was coming from people bitter about les’ firing. I could not be happier about O being the head coach and I am not shocked one bit by his current success. I love O! That’s my 2 cents.

I’m didn’t know if he’d be a significant upgrade for sure but I did know for sure that I was ready for something new. Even if Ed didn’t work out at least we were done with Miles and his 1960s offenses.

But if we’re being completely honest, it was initially tough to watch an incompetent AD handle that process and feel confident that landing on Les Miles’ D-Line coach (who had failed miserably at ole miss) was the solution to stopping our OFFENSIVE problems

not really. I was pretty confident that he would, at the minimum be a solid hire just from the way the team performed once he took over during the 2016 season when he was the interim coach and Ensminger was the OC. I was very impressed with how much more organized and disciplined the team appeared from the very first game. Also the offense really ran so much more smoothly and was more effective in that interim season, averaging 464 ypg in the games that Ensminger was the OC in 2016 which was more than Lsu had ever averaged in any one season in the entire history of LSU football.
Injuries suspensions and the lack of depth that Miles had left led to the stumbles at the start of the 2017 season but the team came on strong after that. Then 2018 was somewhat miraculous with the way the team performed under the circumstances, and end the season ranked #6 in the country.
It was pretty easy to see great things were coming going into the 2019 season.

Anyone who had their eyes open could see this was a good hire early on.

I have to admit that while I did like the O hire, for a short while I did want Hermann until I found out more about him and his whole pre game kissing ritual. I never wanted Fisher and knew he would be a bust. But I really did want the admin to give Fleck a serious look and I don't think that ever happened.

Les had cratered. Another year and we are probably missing a bowl game due to him.

I don’t think anyone could have envisioned that O would so thoroughly fix the program and actually turn us into the greatest team ever and make LSU the place to be. His work on every minor detail has been amazing.

The problem was the constant and extreme negativity and insulting the man. Many fans never gave O a chance and actively tried to sabotage him. Hopefully those pathetic people don’t come back.

this. I don't fault people for questioning the hire or wanting another coach at the time the hire was made, but when the shite continued into the 2017 and 2018 seasons and even into the beginning of the 2019 season is what pissed me off. This board was filled with a bunch of pathetic idiots actively trying promote a negative view of coach Orgeron and the program. A lot of those dumb fricks still post on here and others are waiting in the weeds waiting in hopes for a stumble to occur so they can jump back in.

no one on here KNEW he would be. his 1st 2 years here wasn't a positive picture that he was. losing games he shouldn't in 17 and 18 all while having a shite offense. he saved his job and made everyone a believer by hiring Joe Brady and unleashing the talents of Burrow. he has given us the greatest season in the history of cfb and has totally earned my trust. his story that brought him to lsu his endearing and I can now say I'm glad he is lsu's hc.

It was. We just got lucky that a stupid man accidentally made a smart move at the right time for all the wrong reasons

He’s doing that now. His 2017 class was 7 and his 2018 class 15. People like you and Rickdaddy lost your shite then and said he was killing the program. You have a really short memory.

Yea, no one told you that the insanely talented 2017 freshman class playing the 4th most snaps of all P5 freshmen would pay off in 3 years

Oh wait.

Yea, I did.

You still think Les miles shouldn’t have been fired. You have absolutely no clue what you are talking about when it comes to coaches lmao

Unpopular opinion but our program didn’t look that great through the Troy loss; that game was a turning point and a serious wake up call for O

I’m impressed with what he accomplished in 2019 and I look forward to seeing some consistency in 2020. It’s going to be a make-or-break year

we were talented enough in 2017 and 2018 to not lose to inferior teams.

here you go again making up stances and then bashing people for the made up stance.

you have no idea what you're talkingabout when it comes to football, period

you didn't even know that Notre Dame wasn't in a p5 conference.

you wouldn't know what the 7 route is if you had a gun to your head.

you know frick all about talent evaluation. Remember how mediocre Guice was going to be at LSU?
Remember how CEH was going to cost us a title?

and the 2017 class doesn't pay off without total revamping of the offense from 2017-2018. you never questioned our scheme in either of those years.

please link to where you called for a sec title prior to last season

Thank goodness That incompetent AD was incompetent because if not we would be stuck with Fisher or Herman

Sad when we have to be thankful for the level of incompetence Alleva.

Just a crazy thought, because of his incompetence he was then forced to change strategies because of backlash (coward needing to be told what to do). This led to the hiring of Will Wade, which eventually led him being a coward, caving to peer pressure and being shoved out the door.

I just knew Les had to go. I was disappointed when he wasn’t gone in 2015.

I thought O was the right hire given the circumstances. There were no “slam dunk” choices after it was apparent Herman would choose Texas. Everyone knew he could recruit and I assumed he would update the offense. He brought a lot of energy to the program which was sorely missing.

I had misgivings about the Canada hire and knew after the Spring game it was a bad hire. I thought O would need some time because we were not very good or deep on the lines. (I thought Miles sucked at roster management and recruiting to needs.)
I was concerned after the Troy game, not because of the loss, but because of O’s reaction. He looked lost. To his credit he pulled things together and 2017 was decent. 2018 gave me more hope. 2019 was beyond my imagination,

Now, there is no doubt. It’s not just the results, it’s the way the players speak of him and respect him. Rashard’s comments about O couldn’t have have been more compelling about how much Orgeron has brought to the program.
