I love these threads where so many people act like they were a big fan of the hire

Unpopular opinion but our program didn’t look that great through the Troy loss; that game was a turning point and a serious wake up call for O
don’t think it really is that unpopular of an opinion. The first half of 2017 was a total disaster. It looked like Orgeron might only last one season until he won at Florida

I was on board immediately, but was really sold on O when I saw how he prepared the team for the late games on the schedule. Les' teams always seemed to struggle with effort versus Arky & aTm...

Coach O proved that HARD WORK can get you to the promised land. Les and his crew were the laziest coaches ever. I knew the coaches weren't putting in the work. The athletes made the coaches better instead of the other way around. The athletes Les had deserved more titles but were not coached to championships. Can you remember yearly wondering if we would beat Ole Miss and Arkansas ? It was a comedy of laziness. The game in Wisconsin was the pinnacle of laziness. No game plan, no adjustments and lost to an inferior team. I was a huge Les supporter until that game but in retrospect he lost it WAY before that. I was blind but now I see. Thanks coach O.

Also checking your ego.

It takes a lot for a man, especially a head coach, to admit his mistakes and faults and to to actively work towards correcting them. It says a LOT about his personality.

That was Les' downfall. He could not see that his style was no longer a winning formula. He refused to change.

Same here. I was hoping for the best, but was not optimistic. I was excited about Coach O coming to LSU from day one, but HC? No, I was not excited.

Lol easy to say that now

Not using 20/20 hindsight. Miles was a clown show. Great guy, nice person. Not a college football coach. Give him a loaded team and he was fine. Get him into a game where game planning and strategy are needed and you are in trouble. The next problem was coach O at Ole miss. The answer was after USC interim and LSU interim he was not that guy anymore.

no one on here KNEW he would be.

wrong. Many here knew he was a solid hire and especially as time went on, it was easy to see he was doing a lot of good things with the program.

his 1st 2 years here wasn't a positive picture that he was

bullshite. Many people here saw it and were telling ya'll you should keep more of an open mind on Orgeron and the direction of the program and that you and your group should stop being so aggressively negative in regards to Orgeron and towards other posters who were able to see the good things going on with the program.

I didn't want Fisher, FSU had gone down except for one flash in the pan, I didn't want Herman, thought he was a lightweight rah rah guy, wasn't sure about Coach O but knew no one in the USA would love LSU more than he did. So my position was give him a chance. Worked out ok. Now look at Texas and A&M. Neither one had a first round NFL guy, not one!!!! And FSU had zero as well so Jimbo is a bust. Hope they choke on the $75 mil contract.

He was not the guy I wanted but I 100% new he was going to be better than miles. The talent we have hear just needs a guy willing to adapt. And I felt coach O was playing the politics very well, seeing opportunity and seizing it. Seems to no when to strike, and was not going to let the 2nd opportunity pass him by. Kinda thought he was listening to the fans and using his media Connects to stir the fire etc..

I new he would be better I did not know he would go to what ever lengths to ensure he was putting the right staff together and hold his coaches accountable very very impressed

I was ok with it after how the team played well for him as interim coach. I kind of wanted Patterson from TCU because I thought he could put the best D in the country on the field with the talent he would have at LSU, along with a "good enough" offense. Les deserves respect for his winning percentage, but it was time for him to go. In the end, most coaches are what their record says they are. Les was good for a while but was done. A handful of choices would have been an upgrade over Les at the time because it was time for him to go.

I was wrong. I thought he was a great hire as a position coach and recruiter and thought he'd end up a coordinator. Had no idea he was so progressive minded, although what he did at SC interested me. But I thought at the end of the year LSU's record would look similar to Les Miles's time here.

Not me!

Thought he was a great interim hire, but not the long term solution.

Glad I was wrong.
