Lolololo

Go make a list of the top coaches at the NFL and CFB level and let me know how many of them were the top athletes of their sport.
You’ve mistakenly assumed a few things:
- athleticism correlates with football knowledge (it doesn’t)
- I didn’t play football (I did)
- you’ve assumed that judging him is a simple formula (blatantly wrong)

Judge him by what? We are 6 games in and you are making broad claims about his ability as a coach and where we will end up. It’s possible you end up being correct but we can all rest assured it will have been by chance and nothing to do with your intellect or football knowledge.

He took over a program from ashes and swung for the fence this year. We could have spread the wealth around and been a great overall team but he took a risk. It’s not panning out but if he would have made different decisions then retards on here would have criticized him for that.

Is it fair to say LK and staff know infinitely more about football than me, you, Jarvis, and Leonard combined? Absolutely.

Indiana’s schedule is laughable. What a horrible comparison.

Even in his laughable comparison he himself acknowledges clear progress from year 1 to year 2

Sooo, we can expect improvement next year. Great, thanks for this thread

This years teams is certainly better than last years. What are you going to do, who else you going to get?

Well, if Lane played the same powderpuff schedule Indiana did, then maybe you'd have a point. We don't, so you look like an idiot.

Not to mention the season isn't over yet. Plenty of chances for good wins left.

I found the thread with all the idiots. Including the quote above ^^

What doesn’t he have?? Seriously. Time. It takes time to install a culture here. Lane will figure out what it takes to win here. We are probably 5-1 or 6-0 with TD Green and all of our fans would be slobbering Kiff off.

And for Cignetti, there’s a reason he runs froms competition. He will get exposed tomorrow morning

If you can't see that the program is better today than it was last year at this point, then you're either a troll, an idiot, or have exceedingly whacked expectations.

His only mistake was retaining Baker

I think this is a hindsight 20/20 thing. The dude hauled an insane defensive class.

I do agree that if Baker keeps crumbling every time the chips are down he doesn’t get infinite rope at $4.5M

Maybe, but you're probably giving Ole Miss and Kentucky too much credit. We gave those games away. They didn't take them. It's not like we played great games and it just didn't go our way. No, we played like we never played in a road environment before. Like a deer in the headlights

This years rebuilt team would beat last years team by two touchdowns

I’m not Lanes biggest fan, but we are trending up

No reasonable person thought that we SHOULD win a NC in year 1.

The job Kiffin did in the offseason was really good. It was so good that the NC talk wasn't dumb. But, it was always an outside shot.

I'm sorry for you that you didn't realize this. The reality we live in is that paying a coach doesn't guarantee anything. I didn't realize that some people didn't realize that. But, it's clear to me now.

We just have a lot of fans who have no idea what's going on. It is what it is.

Be nice. It's not his fault.

The guy really thought the work was done. How could you expect him to realize that one offseason might not be enough.

I think it's more about in today's cfb world, what's stopping his first year from being elite?

The obvious answer is that there's a lot of competition in the league we play in and across the country.

quote:

He assembled the roster he wanted

He assembled the roster the best he could with what he had available to him. Certainly, you realize that putting that team together in 1 offseason with the amount of turnover might be tougher than doing it over multiple years. And, that's just the player acquisition part.

Implementing the system you want to run is also a challenge to do in 1 year.

quote:

What exactly does he not have in year 1 that he'll have access to in year 2,3 and 4?

He won't be losing 40+ players. He won't be implementing a new offensive system. He'll have the young players this year that he brought in and developed coming into their own in year 2. He'll have a 2nd year QB who isn't coming off an injury and unable to practice in Spring or Summer.

Just little things like that

Don’t know what an Ensminger clown is and your stats are nice slogans for people who don’t watch the games but he’s given up over 400yards per game and 29.5 points per game on the road. He hasn’t stopped a 2 minute drive in either game, 0/4. Where does that rank?

Indiana was really bad, but their 2024 schedule was the easiest schedule in the history of sports.

They played 4 teams over .500 and went 2-2.

7 of their wins were against teams who went 5-7 or worse. They beat 1
team in the Big 12 with a winning conference record.

And they lost to Ohio State and Notre Fame by multiple scores.

2 deep roster is one. Familiarity with the program is another. Fully installed culture another. A full recruiting cycle not just patching holes on the boat.
