He said he calls plays when Ensminger tells him to go for it. No one is saying that Brady never calls plays. But Ensminger calls the majority of them.

This isn't coach speak, it is just the way it is.

it's ridiculous that we have these groups of Team E and Team Brady. They work together. Brady brought and implemented the scheme. SE structured the play calling during the game and does a majority of the calls. I was one of the posters that took time to research and read the stories about Brady's rise and what makes him special, but at the same time he's also barely 3 years removed from being a GA. Be glad he's here and what he's done, but take a breath before deciding he's running the offense.

Here's his resume:
013–2014 William & Mary (LB)
2015–2016 Penn State (GA)
2017–2018 New Orleans Saints (OA)
2019–present LSU (PGC/WR)

Burrow and the receivers made his job much easier.
The best QB in LSU history makes big play out of nothing every game.
Total team effort that all of them can be proud of.

This very well could be a product of LSU having a Heisman winning QB and FINALLY running a simple spread offense.

I think Burrow has been wonderful, of course, but this isn't a "simple spread offense". The WR route trees are very sophisticated to confuse defenses and create mismatches. They are more on the pro level than anything other teams are running. It's one of the reasons Saban said "they have no weaknesses on offense". Taking something away opens something else up.

Whenever they cut to the box during the broadcast, Brady is talking and Steve isn't. Maybe it's a coincidence, but I doubt it.

The evidence as you say, is that the offense sucked last year and now it’s phenomenal. There are several factors responsible for that- the main one being Brady coming in and modernizing the offense. It’s his system. If E is calling the plays it’s the plays Brady taught him how to run because he admitted that when O wanted to go spread that they’d have to find someone to implement it because he didn’t know it. So ok, E’s calling plays that Brady taught him and set up for him.

Per Brady
He's a good man, and appropriately deferrent to SE. Early in the year, flashes to the coaches booth showed SE calling plays. Every time cameras caught the aTm game booth, it appeared Bady was making the calls.

The pass routes from the Saints come straight out of the heads of Payton and Brees.
Those two are the best ever at it and they work just as well in college. The principles of crossing patterns and putting a zone defender in a bind have opened the throwing lanes with Burrow making all the throws in tight windows with anticipation. It is a combination of several different things working in harmony.

yes and no. E still calls his stuff also. what did he call last year and call this year? plenty common denominators! watch the games and compare. lester earl does not see it though. watch last years and this years and see the similarities at times and and of course huge differences at times.

brady does not call all the PLAYS as clowns like LE believe regardless of concepts.

But he wasnt the OC nor the major play caller.

Never said he was. I said it’s Brady’s plays that E’s calling. He implemented the spread here. He taught it to E.

This offense is probably moderate in complexity for even an NFL team to run. Advanced route trees, mesh concepts, etc.

It takes very gifted athletes to run it, but if you have those, you're a fool not to run such an offense.

Complete and utter BS . Ensminger didnt suddenly wake up one day and re-invent the spread at LSU to be the best in college football . While Ensmiger might be calling plays hes calling plays given to him by Brady .

The genius in the offense really isn't in the play calling, it's in the design and uber-effective implementation of the scheme.

Several opposing coaches, including Kirby and Saban, have said LSU doesn’t do anything remarkable scheme wise, they just have great athletes, including a great QB, and they execute very well.

Why is it absurd that Steve didn’t get the award with Joe? Without Brady this offense doesn’t exist at LSU. He is the brains behind the offense wether he calls a play or not.

Whether he was the interim OC after Cam or in his full time role the last couple of seasons, I always thought Steve to be a pretty good play caller. It’s been more of a function of the style of offense that has held this team back.

Coach E is very unappreciated in Tiger land. Maybe the unsung hero of the O this year. With the youngster backing him up, he just may stay around a little longer, although it would be tempting to retire with a NC on the shelf. What else is there to accomplish?

He was a team player under center & a team guy in the coach’s booth. How many coach’s get to to coach a NC team at their alma mater ? Gotta be living his dream.

Thanks E, from an older fan that was there to cheer you on on Saturdays when you were wearing a jersey.

LoL...lip service. Did you expect to admit it if he's calling the majority of the plays and throw E under the bus? Just because it is said to the media, doesnt mean it's the truth.

Every time the camera cuts to the booth preplay on broadcasts (that I've seen) it's JB speaking in to his microphone, not SE. Not saying they're lying or covering something up just my observation

Engsminger might be a superb playcaller, but might struggle installing his own offense, which could be likely, given that Engsminger was a significantly better playcaller than Cameron in the exact same offense. But I do think Brady calls quite a lot of plays, with maybe a 50-50 split.
