If all of those things happened there are 10 teams in your post that would still arguably have a better case to get in than LSU, and there’s zero chance we would get in over 7 of them.

So it wouldn’t only take one or two of those happening, it would take all of them plus much more.

being sec champ would hold alot of weight but yea we arent making the playoffs this year because all of thh above isnt happening.

we are not making playoffs no matter what essentially.

We have a snowballs chance in hell. We need more help than Erik Gilbert making it to the NFL.

In the initial CFP rankings last year there were six undefeated teams that spanned 4 conferences. The only conference that had no undefeated teams but had plenty with one loss was the pac 12 which had 3 teams with one loss.

There are currently 8 undefeated teams and osu psu play this weekend so we will be guaranteed to be down to 7 by the time the cfp rankings come out on the 31st. In addition utah and Oregon play so that’s one less 1 pac 12 1 loss team.

We are on pace with last year. It’s no different despite your recency bias.

These things always work themselves out.

Nowhere near what it typically does. This is the weakest the conference has been in a long time.

The SEC has gotten two teams in twice in 9 years, and all of those teams only had one loss. “Every year”

Auburn was 100% going as a 2 loss team in 2017 and we were in position to go last year. If we had 1 loss in the sec cg and maybe even if that was our second loss we would have gone last year

The mental gymnastics some of y’all do is incredible.

“If we could take this team that had 3 losses in the regular season and just changed that to only one loss in the regular season, they would have had a shot”

Fair enough. I obviously hope you are correct but I am not gonna let myself get my hopes up.

No different than saying midway through the year that “OMG look at all the other conferences this is the year the SEC finally gets left out” when this happens every year.

Last year a 2 loss LSU SEC champ goes.

2019 a 2 loss sec champion goes

2021 a 2 loss sec champion goes (notre dame gets in and a 2 loss sec champ)

These things work themselves out.

Every year.

My main counter to that is the leagues like the PAC 12 and ACC and Big 12 usually have a single team that they pin their hopes to and when they lose their league is out of it. This year every league has at least 2 if not 3 or 4 teams that have legit shots at the playoffs. SO we don't need one or two teams to lose, we need like 8 teams to lose and some of them need to lose multiple times.

I’m not sold on the pac12 not cannibalizing itself out of the CFP. The main obstacle would be the big10 getting two teams in if Michigan beats Ohio state because Ohio State has that win over ND.

They very well could leave SEC champ LSU out in favor of UGA. It happened to Penn State in 2016. They put Ohio State in over them. The CFP has shown that if you win your conference they give you credit but if you don’t even play in it they won’t dock you.

so you’re completely ignoring what’s happening this season across the CFB landscape and only looking at previous seasons. Got it. Now your posts make a lot more sense.

No… I just know it’s October and all these undefeated/one loss teams are going to lose more. SEC won’t be left out

How is discussing what happens if LSU wins out “mental gymnastics”?

They’re one of the hottest teams in the country right now with the best QB, best offense and enough pieces on defense to make it happen.

It’s not a far shot if you’ve paid attention to the rest of the SEC including UGA. How bout you do some mental analyzing of the CFB landscape.

I just pulled up the rankings from last year at this time.

There were 9 undefeated power 5 teams.

It’s just interesting the power of the media to instantly have people buy into mass perfection.

Last year at this time legit playoff contenders

ACC had an undefeated Clemson and a one loss wake forest

Pac 12-usc Oregon ucla we’re all top 12

Big ten Ohio state was dominant and taking 17 first place votes from Georgia

Big 12 had okie state and Kansas state as one loss teams in addition to TCU

ACC and big 12 champs ended with 2 losses

In what years have people said that the SEC was going to get left out?

I mean you are just changing the outcomes of multiple games for a single team. If someone says "hey you can turn 2 losses into wins for a single team" then I can like 20 teams that "would have" made the playoff.

2019 a 2 loss sec champion goes

2021 a 2 loss sec champion goes (notre dame gets in and a 2 loss sec champ)

Again you are just making up scenarios. In both of these years it was an undefeated team playing against a 1 loss team in the SEC Championship. It was literally impossible for there to be a 2 loss SEC Champion.

this.

Its evident in this past weeks example of Bama up +3 spots in a survival win at home vs an unranked SEC opponent vs. LSU up +1 spot in a 30 point win at home vs an unranked SEC opponent.

Huh? That guy was talking about what would have happened if LSU went into last years SEC Championship with only 1 loss instead of 3 losses.

don't think its out of the range of possibilty for this team to get it together enough to win a Natty. I DO think its very unlikely we make the playoffs even if we win the SEC. We'd need some teams to also lose cuz we won't get in over undefeated or one loss teams from Big 10, ACC, Big 12, and Pac 12. Hell I'm not sure we'd get the nod over a one loss UGA even if we are the one loss.

Pretty much all of that. The SEC fatigue is really setting in. Look no further than 1 loss bama at #11. Yes, we all know they have looked like shite, but since the machine started a 1 loss bama would drop from 1 to 4/5/6, keeping them in striking distance. LSU will need help. Lots of ball left to be played.
