Is there a universe where LSU wins out, beats Georgia, makes the CFP and plays for a national title?

Initially my thought was hell no but honestly if the defense really gets going, I don’t see anyone on the schedule beating this team. Now, CFP is a completely different animal. I get it. Auburn sucks but you can’t help but think it’s not completely off the table. It happened before in 2007 why not again?

FSU rematch in Houston?

Yes. We are in if we win out. All it takes is for one conference to miss out out of the Big 12, ACC, Big 10 and PAC 12

I don't think its out of the range of possibilty for this team to get it together enough to win a Natty.

I DO think its very unlikely we make the playoffs even if we win the SEC. We'd need some teams to also lose cuz we won't get in over undefeated or one loss teams from Big 10, ACC, Big 12, and Pac 12. Hell I'm not sure we'd get the nod over a one loss UGA even if we are the one loss.

We 100% would. UGA didn’t play a good OOC game and we would have the head to
head plus conference championship

Do you think we have the Jimmy's and Joe's on D to beat GA?

I know everyone on here wants House's head on a platter but sometimes ya gotta work with what you got.

Not saying there isn't room for improvement schematicly.

As of today, UGA, FSU, Big-10 champ, Washington, and OU would be ahead of us. We will get a chance to take care of UGA. Will need some help from somewhere else.

This is a terrible over simplification. Between those 4 conferences there’s over a dozen teams that either already have a better case than we do or would have a better case than we do if they win out.

ETA: It’s more likely that two or three of those conferences would get two teams in, or have two teams with a better case than us, than them getting no teams in.

I hate to be Negative Nancy, but our defense does not have the pieces to become a National Championship caliber defense. Too far to go. We can beat anybody on our schedule, but we can’t beat them all.

Thats nice to think about but the playoff committee has never shown that they are willing to actually punish a perceived top team for a shitty schedule.

I think it’s very likely we make it to the playoffs if we win out however I think it’s very unlikely we win out. Just enjoy the season man.

to who? OU is a double digit favorite the rest of the way and avoids K State.

I think that if we put UGA in a chasing mode, we can outscore them. They are obviously much better than Auburn but they are similarly not built to win a shootout.

OU got by their only real challenger when they smacked the horns down.

based on your posts today in a few threads, you seem to decide on the outcome that you want and then just believe it as fact.

Oklahoma plays no one the rest of the year and even if Washington loses, a one loss PAc-12 team still gets in over us. Whether its UW or Oregon doesn't really matter.

Also Michigan plays no one but OSU so the winner of that is in and the loser is still a one loss team and if its OSU with the one loss, they would def make it in over us and just like UGA, I am not convinced we make it in over a 1 loss Michigan either.

In the ACC it looks like FSU will go undefeated and even if they drop a game, a 1 loss FSU with a head to head win over us is still in. Our hope here would be for FSU to drop a game and then lose to Clemson or Duke in the conf champ game (not sure how their divisions work).

We need some 2007 level chaos to make the playoffs even if we win out.

Not to mention us getting our arse kicked by FSU puts a severe dent in the “SEC is superior and their champ has to be in no matter what” argument.

Correct. We do not control our own destiny.

We would need a lot of 2007 type upsets to make the playoffs. The reason we pulled it off in 2007 is because of the mayhem we haven’t seen since then that ensued. Every week you had a top 2 ranked team losing and a lot of times to unranked teams. Need a lot of upsets in the back half of the year to have a shot

Also, something nobody is talking about is what if Ohio St is 11-1 with a close loss to Michigan and Penn State is 11-1 with a win over Michigan?

Just don't believe they move LSU up enough in the polls to get close. The blinding defensive woes far outweigh the offensive firepower.

Depends on Wash, big10, FSU, and OU

Probably would need pac12 champ to have 2 losses
