Would be nice to have that 12 team playoff. We’d for sure be in.

Well it happened when only 2 teams made the finals. Now 4 teams make the finals, so yes it's very possible.

If this happens, then the SEC will likely have no team in the playoff for the first time ever. If other conferences have no or 1 loss champions, they get in over LSU.

This year in this thread

2 loss sec Champ lsu goes if this season goes by historical norms.

Do you disagree with this statement?

“Historical norms”

No two loss team has ever made the playoff.

The other P5 conferences are objectively better than they have been since the playoffs began while the SEC is objectively weaker. Have you actually looked at the SEC’s head to head versus other conferences?

The last 7 years a two loss SEC champ would have been in. Just going to ignore history?

You’re asking me if I’m going to ignore a hypothetical scenario that did not happen? Yes, I am.

I can just as easily say the two loss SEC champion wouldn’t have made it in any of those years if _____ had beaten _____ and it would be just as valid.

And you’re still ignoring the fact that the SEC is weaker than it has been in any prior playoff format year by a wide margin.

Let's settle this debate by looking at the last 6 years:

2022: We all remember last year. If we beat A&M like we should have and then upset UGA, we were in.

2021: Two SEC teams made it

2020: 3 of the top 6 were SEC teams so this year too

2019: Had UGA upset us, we both were in the Playoff.

2018: 12-2 OU made it so this year too.

2017: If 2 loss Auburn upset UGA in the title game, they are in the Playoff

So for the naysayers, do you just ignore history? Cant understand it? What is it?

There are literally no historical norms to go by. There has never been a 2 loss SEC Champion since the CFB Playoff was created.

Auburn entered the sec championship game ranked number 2. Do you think they don’t make the cfp if they win?

LSU was number 5 entering the tamu game. Do you think the committee puts a non conference champ TCU in over a 2 loss team that beat won the SEC and beat the number 1 team in the country?

Every time there is a legitimate 2 loss SEC contender they are in position to make it IF they take care of business

Until they beat the SEC or hell just prevent the SEC champ from making the finals the committee will give every single benefit of the doubt to the SEC champion

Historical norms means that look at this season compared to other seasons. All this talk about too many big 12 ACC pac 12 teams etc they will get weeded out.

There are no more undefeated teams this year than any other year.

As far as 2 loss sec champ cfp look at 2017 auburn

You are talking about changing the result of multiple games for a single team. No shite that changes things. You can say that for any conference.

2020: 3 of the top 6 were SEC teams so this year too

You have no way of knowing this. A&M was ranked ahead of Florida who was in the SEC Cahampionship.

2019: Had UGA upset us, we both were in the Playoff.

Neither team would have had 2 losses.

2018: 12-2 OU made it so this year too.

OU didn't have 2 losses.

You are assuming that if we win out the rest of the regular season we will be the #2 ranked team in the country going into conference championships. You have no way of know what we would be ranked.

It would be well outside of the norm for us not be number 5 or 6 as the SEC division champ going into conference championship weekend. The only time that has happened for the SEC was last year because we had 3 losses. We were number 5 in the country prior to loss number 3. Bama didn’t win the division yet made it to the top 6.

Having two losses, winning the division and Beating the number 1 team in the country will make lsu ranked in the top 4.

The loss to Ole Piss did is in. We allowed 700 yards of offense and looked like a JV team on defense. No way in hell they are gonna let us in the playoff.

We lost by 6 on the road in September. last year we gave up 500 yards at home to Tennessee and lost by 27. We were number 5 to start the final game of the regular season.

That and getting battered by Florida State in non conference, when one of our claims would have to be strength of the conference, is a bad combination.

I don't think its out of the range of possibilty for this team to get it together enough to win a Natty.

I DO think its very unlikely we make the playoffs even if we win the SEC. We'd need some teams to also lose cuz we won't get in over undefeated or one loss teams from Big 10, ACC, Big 12, and Pac 12. Hell I'm not sure we'd get the nod over a one loss UGA even if we are the one loss.

I do think a 2-loss SEC champion gets the nod over a 1-loss Pac 12 team without a conference championship.

to who? OU is a double digit favorite the rest of the way and avoids K State.

They will lose to Texas in the Big 12 championship game.
