Problem with this the players didn’t even sue the SEC. The sued the NCAA just like the myriad of other players that have. I’m not sure what discussions were had behind the scenes by the SEC and LSU. I’m sure it was something of we know you’ll win and if you do we’ll take drastic action because this is where we draw the line in the sand and well self destruct before letting this pass.
No conference has ever interceded in suits for eligibility against the NCAA. The big XII may have and we don’t know about because tech bowed down quick and LsU said this different because of the 5 for 5 so frick off. Now the SEC is going nuclear because this was line that was drawn.

Well, I recant my thread. Paul Finebaum (Sankey’s mouthpiece) just recanted his statements from earlier today and said LSU won’t be kicked out.

I agree. It would be cutting off their nose to spite their face. It would cause more damage to their pocket books in the long run and bring lawsuits, not only from LSU. It would open the floodgates for sponsors and TV networks that have contracted with them to sue. Probably others as well

LSU bent the knee today and finalized the roster. If the SEC insists on pushing forward with expulsion, then Stankey has clearly crossed the line from regulation to persecution. He is hell-bent on kicking us out despite the fact that we did exactly what the SEC instructed us to do. This is petty and vindictive and he’s likely being pushed by the likes of OM, Bama, UGA, and Tennessee. It would not surprise me in the least if Texas is in on this as well. At the very least, Stankey will insist on punitive measures such as massive fines, suspensions, etc. designed to cripple the football program.

The SEC is trying to establish that they have the legal authority to enforce its own rules. Their argument may work, but it's far from a done deal.

If LSU didn't roster the players, is Sankey saying that LSU is being kicked out of the SEC because it wanted to roster them, but decided to follow the SEC rules and didn't roster them. So just exactly what is LSU guilty of doing that warrants such a punishment?

For seeking valid legal action? Kicking a school out for doing something lawful? That's a bit insane.
Perhaps it's a lawful but immoral stance, but then they need to kick out Texas, Alabama, Kentucky, etc. AND sue the NCAA for failing to establish enforceable rules kn these points.
