EDIT: Finebaum just said on CNN that LSU is not getting voted out. He said the opposite earlier today on his show. He’s a mouthpiece for Sankey. I withdraw everything I said. LSU will not get voted out, it appears.
Greg Sankey:
“Consensus … was and continues to be that LSU’s continued membership in the Conference would be inconsistent with the SEC’s values and principles — even if LSU does not use the former NFL players.”
The SEC is preemptively seeking a restraining order preventing LSU from preventing the meeting Thursday and the results of the meeting from being enforced.
He’s telling you that they are kicking LSU out and attempting to prevent them from doing anything about it (like seek their own remedy).
The presumption is that LSU would seek its own TRO to allow it to finish the SEC season.
The SEC is asking Judge Annemarie Carney Axon to prohibit LSU and Louisiana officials not merely from stopping Thursday’s meeting, but from seeking judicial intervention to delay or undo a termination vote.
Sankey has said LSU is getting kicked out and they’ve taken legal steps to block LSU from being able to stop it.

They asked for legal steps. Nothing has been granted and a fed judge is likely to scoff at such.

I don’t disagree…but people need to accept this isn’t a bluff. The SEC members are voting LSU out Thursday. If the court doesn’t grant the TRO tomorrow then LSU can at least seek to enjoin immediate expulsion.

You’re not understanding what is happening here.
They don’t need a legal decision to kick LSU out. They’re only going to court tomorrow to make sure LSU doesn’t try and stop them from booting us on Thursday

Exactly…and they are seeking to block LSU from preventing immediate expulsion through some injunction.

Glad he at least took the mask off. Now we know that nothing short of nuking our athletic department will satisfy these people.

All the SEC insiders (Finebaum/Dellenger/Thamel/Hayes) that have been being fed stories from the SEC the last two weeks all included versions of “the SEC is doing this to get LSU fully capitulate and offer pound of flesh.” It seems very clear that ideal outcome for the SEC is LSU bends the knee, pays a fine, accepts a suspension for Kiffin and begs forgiveness.
The question is if LSU doesn’t do that is this all just a bluff or will the SEC go through with it on Thursday?

This is two parents blaming the kids for the divorce. And the two parents are the NCAA and the SEC. Zero look in the mirror and ability to resolve conflict in a proactive manner.

Is he forgetting that Sankey and the conference are subject to an order by the BR judge? Seems to me that these actions constitute egregious disobedience. What happens when Sankey is jailed and the SEC is subjected to a fine of $1 million per day of non-compliance?

I highly doubt Sankey would make this move without a consensus among his members. He already has the votes and Liz stated today that LSU has no designs on stopping the Thursday vote

Sankey’s own words said they don’t care if they don’t roster the players. They are kicking LSU out for allegedly colluding with players to sue the conference.
There is no concession to make and the SEC is not looking for one.
