The gameplay against Chambliss in the first half will work against Marcel Reed

I don’t think the first half game plan against Chambliss was terrible. I do think they took too long to adjust but this game plan will work against Reed. Make him beat us throwing the ball.

The issue with Chambliss is he can legitimately beat with with his arm or legs. He can beat you over the top, on the seams, intermediate or short. He took what LSU gave him most of the night, which was too much, but he’s the best passer in the nation.
Reed will beat you with his legs, but if you drop 8 and have 22 eyes on him he’s not doing much.

Maybe. Chambliss is a special player.
Reed is a terrible passer. Maybe worse than Leavitt. Force him to be a QB and LSU can win big.
Remains to be seen if Baker can come up with a defense that can do that.

Agreed.
The plan actually worked getting them to a bunch of 3rd and long. Just have to get off the field from there. A&M wants to run a bunch of mesh and shallow cross stuff especially with Craver. So “press man and blitz” that the majority of ppl here thinks is a magic fix isn’t the answer. Make Reed go on long drives and beat you with accuracy and decision making. They just need to play the sticks better on 3rd down. Can’t just leave 10 yard cushions.

We almost beat OM away going against a heisman qb. We were that close with leaving so much on the table. Things aren’t as bad as they seem

People don’t want to hear that because they were emotional about last night’s game, but Reed looks like he has regressed as a passer. Also, his supporting cast isn’t nearly as good as it was the last two years.

Keep Reed in the pocket and make him throw, he's a below average passer. With Dottery and Weeks, we should be able to spy him. We owe this dude.

Its the perfect gameplan against Reed. I'd much rather force him to beat us with his arm than Chambliss.

I do. 24 points, 250 yards, playing DBs 12 yards off LOS where Chambliss had easy underthrows. Not good.

I knew they'd need to score 30+ to win. I was right. I think the D did about as well las they could vs. a guy who will likely be the 1st overall pick in the draft. The D had some letdowns, but the real letdown was Sam and the O line.

Outside of the 3rd and 19 TD pass where our safety left a giant hole by abandoning his responsibility, did he make one downfield throw? He sure didn’t make any vs man coverage and was mostly way off on those. We had 3 balls that could’ve been picked we only got 1 but all of them were vd man coverage.

That approach worked for Kentucky against Reed. Keep him in the pocket and encourage him to throw into a zone.

He's not, but he has been excellent against LSU and destroyed us twice, so we need obvious need to get creative against him.
