Texas made a deliberate and coordinated effort to add a professional player, they were told before the game not to play him though because he is considered a pro.

That's a state court ruling that isn't fully litigated, and this would be a federal court ruling that has supremacy. That's the plan.
This is a shot across the proverbial bow, I imagine for not just LSU but everyone else who wants to run to local state courts to disrupt the SEC's authority over member institutions. We're not special; we're just the first one to force their hand into this strategy.

At this point, LSU should file a countersuit in a Louisiana Federal Court, suing the SEC for $1B.
Expelling LSU 9 years before the media contract is up is taking $80M times 9 years away from LSU, plus the brand damages inflicted.

LSU would make billions as an independent. The money they would make off of brand and tv deals would be ground breaking. The SEC needs LSU more than LSU needs the SEC. Plus how much longer will conferences be a thing anyway.

A Federal court isn’t going to rule on this. They’re going to say that the SEC is coming to this court to avoid following the injunction from the Louisiana court and must go through the appeals process there.
Fans have already paid money for tickets, bought non-refundable flights and some have booked hotels at non-refundable rates or paid non-refundable deposits.
The class action lawsuits over that will hurt the league.
