I don't think they are voting to expel LSU....right now.

This is a warning shot for SEC schools not to FAFO, because their actions while the waters are muddied may have consequences once those waters clear up.

Why do they have to ask for authority?

They don’t. They’re asking for an advisory opinion. Courts don’t do that

Fans have already paid money for tickets, bought non-refundable flights and some have booked hotels at non-refundable rates or paid non-refundable deposits.

The class action lawsuits over that will hurt the league.

Against LSU/Kiffin? Sure.

Sounds like a legal basis for damages.

The judge last week already implied that he saw damages. I guarantee that's what he meant. I have to believe one of two things with this move from the SEC. Either this is all a set up and the SEC is just trying to make congress and the ncaa get rules and regulations, and LSU is just playing along at the center of it.......OR, the SEC knows that LSU has serious grounds for Damages, due to intentional attempt to damage the brand of LSU, and knows LSU is in the process of that now. In any event, Sankey is not only setting up the SEC for damages from players in this case, but also a massive suit from LSU.

It is all very bizarre, and Sankey is a true POS and way over his head. He is embarassing the SEC in the process.

The filing mentions Kiffin’s remarks at half time and post game to show lack of institutional control

Au berry needs to step up

Shocker. The ambulance chaser is going to ruin the board taking Sankey's side.

This is a wet dream for this douchebag.

15 schools are pushing for this....we don't have a single school defending us at this point.

We can call it the shrimp étouffée conference that way we can still keep the SEC on the field and the uniforms and save that much money at least

Wait a damn minute here.... I thought the SEC already had the ability to do that. The state court TRO situation makes this unclear

Don’t understand what the Louisiana TRO has to do with the SEC taking a vote of its membership and throwing LSU out.

Its not about recruiting the players its about seeking the players out and getting them to sue for eligibility. I could see how that might be frowned upon. You can't have a league member actively helping players sue the league over rules.

Correct me if I'm wrong, wasn't the suit between players and the NCAA , then the SEC decided to enter the fray?

You're confused. I took no sides.

The comment was about LSU fans being damaged for LSU's behavior. LSU would be the liable party. Why would the SEC, in this scenario? They're enforcing their rules, not breaking them.

What do you think LSU's defense would be if this actually came to pass?

"We're just following the state TRO"

Then they'd probably file a suit in LA state court to get their own injunction against the SEC.

Those "rules" didn't exist when LSU took action. After the rules were in place LSU complied.

If the SEC expels LSU they are liable.

Not where they drew the line in the sand. As stupid as we all have pointed it out to be, that is where they drew the line and in their minds we are the only ones doing this and we are the ones that are responsible for that happening.

Why was a TRO necessary, then?

Exactly, it’s about Lane and us hiring him away from OM, nothing else.

I’m extremely surprised to see Stankey doing something this boldly stupid.
