While the numbers suggest this is the correct pick, I am anxious to see how they do in Omaha with the larger field. I don't think they have the pitching to win Omaha this year.

I used to think this as well, but then they won the SEC Tournament in Hoover so I put a little money on them to win it all.

Let’s just hope Texas doesn’t win it all. Keep that distance from them in NCs.

That and also because just frick Texas in general. It’s important that they never win anything of significance for as long as they’re in the conference.

Well the way it is set up that the Conferences cant play in any of their own conference team's Regional, having 12 in and a very good chance of getting to Supers, it would probably be a let down if the SEC didn't at least get 5 in the World Series. Kentucky would have probably been the 6th if they could hold a lead.

How does the Rant feel about SEC teams in postseason play now? Pull for them? Root against them? Depends on sport? Depends on school?

Hope everyone of them loses as early as possible.

The conference pride days of the late 2000s are long gone. Every time an SEC team wins a title, it makes it harder for LSU.

Of the SEC teams remaining, I think Alabama are OU are the most harmless. Neither cares about baseball enough to spring board a title into a dynasty.

UGA is full of douchebags from the top down. Ole Miss and UT are insufferable with any success at all.

I'm pulling for WVU and Troy. WVU still feels like a scrappy underdog, whereas a team like UNC is on the verge of being a power (and have been for decades) and i'd rather not have them start winning titles. They would be better than any SEC school, of course.

North Carolina has established themselves as the Arkansas of the ACC. Very good teams every year that will never win a title.

But, I think GA is the team to beat.

The super regional series against Ms State was pretty amazing to watch. Georgia has to be at 100% confidence level headed to Omaha. They would be my pick.

Winner of the UM UNC game on the other side probably makes the finals, but the champion will come from the other side.

The University of Louisiana State University has the highest paid College Baseball Head Coach in the country.

Why aren't WE in the CWS?

Sorry, but the "3 Million Dollar Man" doesn't get a pass from me because of 23 and 25.

That's A LOT of $$$!

To produce that kind of massive DECLINE for one season is just unacceptable.

No BANG for the BUCK.

It's not like WE just lost the deciding game in a Super Regional or something.

This is typically the case for the coach of the reigning national champion. It's usually in the contract.

Because we missed in the portal, we had injuries to 2/3rds of our starting rotation, and a couple of our pitchers did not progress as expected. It's fairly simple.

He's a band Geek who has no real understanding of athletics except as a place he can play his clarinet or whatever he played.

And to be clear, this is not a knock on all band members, just this particular type. I'm sure most of the other band members didn't like this guy either.

True. But their first game will be against Texas, a team that is probably equally as confident. The UGA v. Tex game is somewhat of a mirror image of what happened with LSU and Arkansas last season. That was the only 1st round game between two top 8 seeds. In fact, it was a 3 v 6 game just like UGA v Tex. will be. It was a matchup between the two of the teams with the best odds to win the CWS. Just like Arkansas, the loser of that game is going to immediately find themselves in the losers bracket with a tough road to the championship series. People forget because LSU won the game, but if Arkansas hung on to win that crazy game last year LSU would have thrown Anderson the next day with Arkansas having burned through all of their top pitchers.

Many felt the winner of the opening LSU v. Arkansas game was going to be the champion. That turned out to be correct. It might be the same this year with UGA v. Texas. Carolina is getting good odds to win only because they are the only top 8 seed in their half of the bracket.

All sorts of good matchups possible. Did not get UGA - GA Tech like I wanted but overall I am interested in how it plays out. I really think a hot team like OU or West VA might just grab it. Rooting for Troy!

Agree. If you are pulling for the SEC, it’s a shame Texas and Georgia play in the first round. They are probably the best two teams in Omaha.

Of course I would be tickled to see Troy or West Virginia win it all.

The only team I hope loses is UNC I suppose.

If on February 1st someone had told you that the SEC would have 5 teams in Omaha but that none would be LSU, Tennessee, Arkansas or Florida would you have believed them?
