I mean I’d love it but why? He could name his next destination anywhere in the country with very few exceptions.
He's coached at Baylor the last 20 years, if he wanted to go to a blue blood he could have by now. What challenge is it to go to a blue blood after you've won a NC at Baylor? You leave because you want to do something different or you stay where you're at, much like Brian Kelly.

Woodward has been away from Baton Rouge for 2 weeks now. There’s a reason a phone call was used in firing Wade.
Woody was at the WBB game today. He assured me he is working hard to get us a new coach very soon

Well, shite has changed.
The Big 12 will not be the same without Texas and OU.
He’s like the 5 or 6th highest paid coach in the B12.
The new UF coach Golden just got 3M.
The market has changed and Baylor hasn’t stepped up to give him a fat raise even after winning the Championship.
He may not come here. But he’s not long at Baylor if they don’t step up.
Woodward should at least take a run and put $5M/$6M a year on the table and see if that gets him.

Good points but I don’t think you can compare Brian Kelly coming to one of the top football programs in the country with Scott Drew coming to a bottom half of the SEC basketball program probably looking at sanctions. Again, I would be ecstatic if it’s true!

Would be a great hire for sure. But let’s be realistic.

I’m on board but it’s hard to believe Drew would leave Baylor after almost 20 years at the helm.
Brian.
Kelly.

Yea exactly. All we did was make him an offer. Woodward probably made him a ridiculous offer.
We dont make an offer unless we think there is a chance he could take it.

Kelly knew he could not get over the top at ND to win a championship. He’d been to the BCS/CFP 3 times and just didn’t have enough athletes to compete. And he couldn’t get enough of those guys at ND. At 60, LSU offered him his last best shot to win a NC.
That is not the case with Drew. He’s won a NC at Baylor. He was a #1 seed the year. The LSU job would represent a significant step down and he has no deep ties to the state like Mulkey. There’s is no objective reason for him to leave Baylor unless he is just unhappy there or LSU offers him an insanely lucrative contract. That’s not to say he wouldn’t leave. Just that the situations aren’t really comparable

To be honest, I don't know much about the guy other than him winning an NC a year ago. I don't know what he inherited or built. And, frankly, I think I'm a bit jaded and doing my best to be cautiously optimistic without being negative. Regardless, I'm the guy that supports a coach 100% until if/when they're fired.

It would be awesome if you were right but I highly doubt this happens

New $185 million basketball arena and practice facility right on the river opening at Baylor in Spring of 24. It would be tough to walk away from this. Project has been in the works a long time.
I thought this thread was funny at first but now I’m just pissed off at the OP
This thread is a distraction from the Wade firing. Woodward got more blowback than he thought he would because the fans loved Wade. They are floating exciting names to redirect the narrative to “look who we could get”
Posted on 3/19/22 at 10:59 pm to WaWaWeeWa
Yeah, this kinda feels like the Riley rumors for football.

CapperVin seems legit. Did no one click on the thread in the OP?
He called the Kelly hire a week before it broke, when everyone was convinced we were getting Riley. Brian Kelly was on no one's list.
Really?
Here's one
Here's another
Wow it keeps on ticking
By the way I do not have ONE SINGLE SOURCE inside the Athletic Dept. As far as anyone knows...

This is not true.
Woodward was at SEC tournament on Thursday. I know because I talked to him.
He was back in BR on Saturday. Wade, Armstrong and Nickelberry were called in to AD office after landing in BR. Wade and Armstrong were fired, Nickelberry given interim HC position. Tate and Woodward were at that meeting.
No firing was done by phone. No matter what I or others think of Woodward, he is not that classless or cowardly to fire coaches by phone.
