I do believe Ole Miss wants Lane to commit to them and agree in principle or sign their offer. That’s true.

But unless they are willing to fire him or find something in their current contract that allows them to suspend him, they really don’t have much leverage.

Kiffin (and Sexton) hold the cards here. As long as there is no proof that he signed a deal memo or MOU with another school or an NFL team, Ole Miss truly doesn’t have contractual leverage.

They can turn up the media pressure but Kiffin is better at that game than the Ole Miss AD and boosters are.

This confusion is 100% on Rousse. But no you have to have a clue to be able to “set up” Verge.

Nothing Rousse has done to date expresses he has ANY clue.

Uncertainty is always a problem.

Having said that certainty is coming. The BoS and/or the new President will establish the process. Most likely a search committee and possibly a search firm.

While Landry’s comments were ill timed and caused some confusion it will be cleared up and there will be clarity for agents and prospective candidates.


Everyone just needs to take a breath and wait until we see the process and who will be a part of it prior to calling it a disaster.

Catastrophe syndrome is alive and well it seems.

I think Billy is way way way over his head as a HC and play caller.

But Lagway even after 3-4 INTs still gives that team its best chance to win.

And he’s not alone. LSU, SC, Vandy, OU others have a #1 QB so far ahead of the backup you can’t afford to pull them.

Who cares? He’s been legit so far.

The Saints have won 5 or fewer games something like 18 times in our “history”.

No we are not a playoff contender won’t win half our games probably.

But “historically” bad?

I’ll try to explain one last time.

By your terminology of “offers”, LSU has offered over 50 kids. Again by your terminology none of those offers are “fake”.

However in the real world of recruiting not all offers are equal.

LSU has a recruiting board. They rank the players. Let’s say it’s the 50 listed on on3.

They rank them 1-50 in terms of who they want. Then rank again by position (if the top 5 players were all PG’s for example they would not sign or allow to commit 5 PG)

So in this case this kid is probably ranked at C/PF and overall somewhere in the 50 or so kids listed as having “offers”

I’m not stating I know exactly where he is on the C/PF list nor the 50 overall. But while he has moved up on some of the recruiting sites and is worth keeping an eye on he’s just not NOT at (or near) the top of our wish list as it sits right now.

Maybe he will move up on our list as his season moves forward maybe we swing and miss on kids we value and rank higher on our board and he becomes the highest value kid at C/PF left and there are only lower ranked players left it could happen. We will see.

It’s not like all 50 kids we “offered” can sign. We have a draft board for want of a better term and try to get the highest value players on our board before taking guys lower on our board.

That’s how it really works. It’s not “fake”. It’s just offers are different.

Actually no LSU did not offer a scholarship to him in a manner in which he could actually accept an offer.

In recruiting there are commitable offers and expressions of interest. LSU did express interest but never actually made him a committable offer.

Nice kid has some upside but doesn’t project as an SEC type kid.
