How do you know that's his goal?

How do you know its not his goal?

Almost every coach wants to move up and run their own program. Plus it's his Alma mater. I mean come on.

I don't, that's why I'm not making definitive statements one way or the other.

I know Baker is a Tulane alum, but this makes little sense to me..
Yes, it would be nice to be HC instead of DC, but there is not much upside money.
And where do you go if you succeed?
Tulane is a dead end.
There are much better HC opportunities from his Spot at LSU.

I think Sumrall wants an SEC job. But I think if UNC pays SEC money for him, he will leave.

I don't see how LSU will ever be able to compete at the highest levels without some semblance of coaching consistency on either side of the ball.

As I stated, LSU's defense definitely improved from 2023 but not remotely enough to be a dominant one. And for most of the season, they gave up too many 3rd and long conversions just like last year. On offense I saw some improvement during the season as LSU actually discovered the screen pass but still needs to utilize the middle of the field more for WRers on slant routes.

Talent level on defense is not up to par, you will never see a dominant defense if Major Burns, Sage Ryan, Greg Penn, are starting.

Our starting safeties (Sage, Gilbert, and Burnt) were possibly the worst collection of DB’s at LSU in decades. He also lost his best DL and Perkins very early in the season. To pretend we weren’t better is just being completely disingenuous.

Ok state would be a better choice. NC is lacking in the NIL department.

Well this isn’t true imo

No different than any other stepping stone job. You win, you get a bigger and better job.

LSU is a better stepping stone, with fewer downside risks.

Me and google can't find anyone else reporting this rumor. Ole boy's either full of shite or he out-scooped all the usual suspects. Hope it's the former!

Eh debatable. It typically takes being a successful HC to be considered for a big time HC job. Certainly there have been exceptions.

I do agree that the next step after DC at LSU is a big HC job. Aranda comes to mind.
