LSU running back coach Frank Wilson spoke with the media on Tuesday during a Texas Bowl Zoom Press Conference and revealed that his future at LSU will be determined after the bowl game.

Wilson, who is in charge of coaching the team against Houston in the Texas Bowl, said he has had conversations with Lane Kiffin about his future, but they have agreed to figure out the details after the bowl game on Dec. 27. Per 247Sports:
quote:

"We've had conversations. For me and for Coach Kiffin, let's play this game on the 27th and we'll go into those details later. We just want to finish what we started with this football team, with the team of 2025. Give them our undivided attention before transition happens. So until then, nothing will necessarily happen in that regard. There'll be opportunity there. Where that lies, I'm not sure. But the priority is our current football team," Wilson said on Tuesday.
Kiffin brought several of his offensive coaches with him to LSU, with the exception of running back coach Kevin Smith. It is unclear if Smith will join LSU after Ole Miss' playoff run and take over Wilson's role or if he will remain with the Rebels next season.

Other LSU offensive coaches whose futures remain in limbo include co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton, run game coordinator and tight ends coach Alex Atkins, and offensive line coach Brad Davis.

All three are expected to coach the Tigers in the Bowl Game, but are unlikely to return next season.

Kiffin plans to keep LSU's defensive staff largely intact, led by defensive coordinator Blake Baker.

Give him a shadow staff position. He can still recruit and coach per the newest NCAA guidelines.

We would all love to retain him, but there’s no way he’s going to go from Running Backs Coach and Associate Head Coach to Interim Head Coach, and then all the way down to a Shadow Staff position. He won’t accept that demotion, and I don’t blame him. Plus, yes, according to the new NCAA guidelines he can still technically recruit but he can’t conduct any off-campus recruiting. Which he was amazing at. Your off-campus recruiting has to come from a full-time coach.

Good to keep the players with some form of familiarity and cohesion with Coach Frank. Good theyre making the decision after the bowl. Hopefully can move Frank somewhere on staff, if not, not the end of the world, but Louisiana ties do help.

It might be the end of the world in New Orleans though. It was a desert for recruiting for LSU before Frank came along

I got a thumbs down for saying that recruiting in New Orleans won't be as good after Frank Wilson is gone. But the fact is that this is exactly what will happen. All his intimate connections will be gone. And if LSU doesn't play nice with his departure, his friends in New Orleans will take it badly. But don't take my word for it . Just watch
