I wouldn’t hate it, he’s an elite play caller, but it would be an awfully hard sell to the fanbase.

Solid. An upgrade over BK no doubt because he actually will put together game plans and get hands on coaching the players. But our boosters would hate him haha. He’s a grade A arse hole. Won’t be taking their phone calls or going to fundraising events. He is all football all the time. Would that work here? Short term maybe. Long term I have doubts.
This must be Brady’s agent trying to get him run for a HC job, but I would have thought he’d go to the Bengals.
re: Since we are looking at American Conference coaches - Eric Morris
Posted by nwallb9 on 11/7/25 at 9:27 am to BayouCowboy
We’d instantly have one of the best playcallers in the p4 every year if we hired Morris. But there is more to running a program as big as LSU. His defense most years at UNT has been atrocious. Made a big leap there this season.
Why would he leave Notre Dame? They have an easy path to the playoff every year playing a bunch of nobodies.

Eric Morris. Dude is an offensive wizard
This is becoming so sad. He’s not coming back. Just stop.

Heck if Frank beats Bama, they may promote him Monday. But then Tuesday they’ll backtrack and say he’s only “acting” HC.

Hopefully the quality of the job outweighs the dysfunction going on behind the scenes in the eyes of coaching candidates.
So Verge got demoted?
Posted by nwallb9 on 11/5/25 at 7:41 pm
I’m trying to keep up with what’s going on. Sounds like either the governor or some boosters did not like the hire so they pressured Rousse into backtracking and now he’s simply “acting” AD and may or may not become the permanent AD. If there’s a thread I missed that explains it all, please link it below. Thanks.
Sec coordinator experience and rebuilt USF from the ashes. He’s qualified.

There’s no plan. Governor hated Woodward and the quickest way to get him out was to fire the football coach. I think there’s a 50% chance Frank just gets promoted at this point, especially if he upsets Bama this weekend.
If you wanna take a big swing on a non P4 coach, this guy would be a fine choice. Qb track record is as good as it gets. Plus he’d come cheap and you’d have more money for players and assistants.

Counterpoint if this is a huge secret, Verge has to deny until the man is standing at the podium.
Saban is the only one that would qualify as a nuclear bomb. Maybe Urban Meyer would qualify too. But Jimbo, Stoops, Gruden, Franklin…hiring those guys now would be more head scratching than anything else. Verge adamantly denied Saban today. So did Pate and Herbstreit. Unless it’s just a giant secret they’re trying to keep under wraps.
Also add Ed O. He’s technically available but I cannot see it happening.
Dabo would leave Clemson mid season? Feels like it’s gotta be someone not coaching. Can anyone remember a coach being named at another school when he has multiple games left to coach at his current school?
LOL what would the reaction be if we hire old man Bob Stoops
James Franklin also available.

Personally I see Drink going to Auburn.
re: My source that was right last time about Brian Kelly had the following news

Ask your source who plan B is when Saban inevitably says no. All he’s done since he retired is complain about the current state of college athletics. The guy is wealthy beyond his wildest dreams and has a dream tv gig. You could offer him 200 million for 4 years and I don’t know if he says yes. And he won a championship here already. What business is unfinished? I just don’t see the motivation to return unless he’s been lying on tv and secretly wishes to coach again.
