The CBS contract is monetary dog shite compared to ESPN dollars. My issue with Gary is about 8+ years ago he started "seeing" things during plays that never never occurred on the field and called his own biased version as true. He has been down hill since then, I can't stand to listen to him no matter what games he is calling. He should have retired 5+ years ago and glad he is gone with the CBS contract. Tell me what his winning percentage was QB'ing the Lions...

Not a fan of Gary but he is knowledgeable.

I’m definitely in the minority here. But I can honestly say I rarely even listen to what these guys are saying. Do I hear them talking? Of course. But I’m not paying attention to shite they’re saying most of the time, much less getting offended from it.
And as someone else pointed out, yes Danielson does slob on nick/bama but he is very knowledgeable and he he sees plays as they lineup. But he was here all week watching them practice formations/situations etc, so he does his homework as well.

I don’t like watching the games with Gary because one of my brothers and some of my friends I usually watch the games with look for any Gary misstep. As soon as Gray says something they don’t like then I have to listen to their complaining about Gray which is 10X worse.
Color commentators rarely bother me like it apparently bothers some people. They have zero impact on the game so I just block them out for the most part.
One thing that bothers me is when radio guys get the simple math wrong while painting a picture for the radio audience. As much as I liked listening to Jim Hawthorn he did get the math wrong a lot and I found that to be aggravating.

Absolutely the worst commentator experience possible.
At least Verne is gone but Gary is still easily one of the worst out there. Way way past the time him needing to hang it up.
Josh Pate would make helluva SEC commentator based on his lat ekick show he runs on 247 (owned by CBS). Dude is incredibly knowledgable and loves him some SEC football. Very straight shooter.

Decades ago you got one or two games televised a year, and had to listen to the Tigers on the radio most Saturdays. With every game televised who cares about the announcers, you can watch the games in High Definition, get replays, etc.

Gary was a light early on. Now a very dim bulb. Just not as sharp anymore.
