First off, I think he stays another year. Second, it's October: there will be a lot more openings including in the "big 2". I don't think he leaves for a G6 job now that he's spurned his alma mater. He'll wait for a P4 job.

I don’t see Baker ever being successful as a HC. Could obviously be wrong, he just gives me a vibe similar to Aranda, where he doesn’t really want to put in the type of work it takes to be a successful HC

I think it’s a little too early for this question/statement. Still a lot of football to be played. Depending on the outcome will depend on which job offers he receives. Think you also need to worry about Weis also. There will be job openings. There always are…

A family can live quite well on a $3 million salary in BRouge. Great schools (magnet/private) and a great town to grow up in.

Maybe Blake Baker prefers a longterm gig at LSU (maybe 6-7 more years) to a doubled salary and MUCH more pressure as a HC.

It’s Group of 5 job for Bake if he wants a HC job next year.

Isn't the G5 up to six now that the PAC 12 is a joke?

Baker won’t look as good after the next few games. He won’t be getting any offers. Tards will want to fire him. Next year, after we win the championship, he gone along with Weis.

Maybe Mizzou if Drink leaves. Tulane could call again, but they probably wouldn’t waste their time. Tulane made a poor hire.

LSU could swap with Baylor. Aranda comes back as DC and Baker goes there to be a HC.

Baker has some notable screw ups. That 2pt conversion where the entire secondary vacated the center for example.

I agree. I think Baker’s stock will hit the ceiling after Lane’s first national championship. That’s when Baker will be able to pick his job.

Baylor, NC State, probably TCU will all be open and, if USC cans Riley, other dominoes will fall. Those are all P4 jobs. Colorado could come open as well.

Baker can take his time because he's making $ 3 meeeelllion per year now.

He's in a good spot.

I think he stays another year at minimal. Overall the defense has been great. It's the short spurts of zone coverage that have lost us 2 games. Instead of playing scared, be aggressive. You are seeing this more and more in high pressure situations, DC's are bringing the heat on the QB a lot more instead of prevent.

But as far as potential schools, there could be some interest from the smaller programs in the P4 conferences. I don't know if I would take a USCe, Vandy job. You will not get the players and in the gauntlet of the SEC you will never have a winning record. How many good coaches have gone to USCe and done nothing better than mid-pack.

He will be Kirby Smart. Work under Lane until a big time job comes up. Kirby was under Saban for 7-8 years.
