Are you suggesting he was going to transfer if he didnt get #5. Where is this information?

This whole thing is so incredibly ignorant. Is it really that big of a deal? I’m most people probably had to look up what number he was in last year and didn’t think of JD when he swapped to 5.

Not exactly an apples to apples comparison, but the same could be said about Guice. His records may have been expunged, but current Tiger fans won’t forget what he did on the playing field for LSU.

LOL. we are letting a 22yo sophomore and his Dad cause all the drama,.. and somehow JD5 and his mom are taking the brunt of this.. also it is easy to read between the lines here.. LK probably told them it was not a good idea to switch to 5, but he called JD5 anyway, JD5 held ground and LK was in a pickle and had to give into the current player.

The whole situation is between a rock and a hard place. I don't like how jd5 is handling this and I also don't agree with dj still asking for the number even after the heisman was won. We know if he had ask for 9 the fans would want him kicked off the team lol. But ultimately sounds like some promises were made to both guys and this is the result so I can't blame either one. I didn't know about the threat to transfer part and that's unfortunate. This situation is definitely going to spotlight him a bit so hopefully he has a monster year. If we ever needed to win games in a season it's this one because the soap opera doesn't stop around here.

Where does Moscona say anything about transferring? Negotiations can be had without threatening to transfer?
You were raised by JD’s mom weren’t you?

I absolutely can’t stand when dads are involved to this point. Very Lavar ball like energy.
Don’t care who you are it’s so bad.
Daddy ball. “Hey give him 5 or he’s leaving” 100%

“If we would have been told during our recruiting process and they had said, ‘Hey, No. 5 is not being issued. We can’t promise you No. 5, but we can talk to Jayden and see what Jayden has to say. If he gives his blessing, he does. If he doesn’t, he doesn’t,’ (we would have) moved forward,'‘” Damien said. “If we were to have had a situation like that, it probably would not have blown up like this.”
This is the right response. I understand you are trying to get recruits but you can't promise them a number. Now was JD5 still playing at this time? If so I can understand maybe making the promise. You didn't know he would be a Heisman.
After winning the heisman, LSU should've readdressed this promise.
I can see how DJ5 and JD5 and LSU could've handled this diff.
Out of respect for the Heisman winner JD5, LSU and DJP could've all had a convo and sorted this out before hand.
JD5 camp shouldn't have gone public about this. It does JD5 and LSU no good to handle it this way. They should've approached LSU and handled this behind closed doors.
No we have this crap show and it benefits no-one.

Then we’re good here.
Good PR for lane while JD’s camp looks incredibly petty

because it's the ONLY number he has worn his entire football career, from Pop Warner to HS. Kelly would not allow Pickett to wear #5 last year and forced him to wear #3.
Forced to wear 3…….id argue 3 is a more sacrosanct number.
The Heisman is great for the school. However Kevin “All Eyes on three” Faulk had more of a lasting legacy to the program for being the one to make it OK for local kids to go LSU again.
A Heisman a few years removed from a National Championship and Heisman win might be program maintaining but it’s not program defining or pivotal to program trajectory.

WTF do you think this means? just curious
Pretty sure I can read, DJs stance was if you want me to return to LSU, I need #5... is there any alternate meaning to the quote above ?.. Now if you are calling Moscona a liar, that is something different.. but if DJ was negotiating his return contingent on him getting #5, that means he was leaving if he did not get #5

This is what they call conjecture. Unless you were in the room you have no idea what was said.
To answer your question though, find an example below.
Coach:
“This is your $amount to return next year”
Player:
“Tell you what coach just give me my number I was promised and you can keep $100k of it”.
Coach:
“Deal”
Now stop digging your hole deeper.

Not a good look for Pickett to make a decision on where to play over a number.
