With Oklahoma and Texas officially moving in for the 2024 season, 2023 likely sunsets the East and West division format.

What's seen as the most likely scheduling successor is the 9 game "3-6-6" format. That's 3 permanent opponents we'll play every year plus a set of 6 from the remaining 12 teams that will alternate every year.

So you've got to pick and choose the current annual games you want to preserve or add one we don't currently have. And no, we're unlikely to draw Vandy, State and Kentucky as our 3 permanents. The SEC is saving that for Alabama.

So Bama likely goes away on our schedule. They're more likely to preserve Auburn and Tennessee and want a "weaker" 3rd. Same for Auburn...they'll likely keep Bama and UGA and not want LSU.

I'm going Ole Miss, Florida and A&M. That would create a hypothetical 4 year scheduling cycle of...

2024:
Ole Miss
@Florida
@A&M
@Oklahoma
@State
Texas
Kentucky
@Tennessee
Missouri

2025:
@Ole Miss
Florida
A&M
Alabama
@Vandy
@Auburn
South Carolina
@Arkansas
UGA

2026:
Ole Miss
@Florida
@A&M
Oklahoma
State
@Texas
@Kentucky
Tennessee
@Missouri

2027:
Ole Miss
@Florida
A&M
@Alabama
Vandy
Auburn
@South Carolina
Arkansas
@UGA

I regret the absolute meat grinder road schedule I've set up in 2027.

I want to keep Bama as a permanent game. Florida helps when they're good but lately they've been hot and cold, more cold than anything.

Ole Miss just because.

A&M meh. Don't get me wrong, I like playing them but I have my reasons to not want to play them every season.

Auburn. Crazy stuff always happens in that game.

Alabama
Ole Miss
Auburn

The rest will drop in intermittently, I guess. No idea how the rotation will work so I don't know how the schedule will change, outside of the permanent games, from season to season.

I want Bama, Auburn and either Florida or A&M as the 3. Everyone keeps grouping us with the Mississippi schools but they are way less exciting.

I like playing Bama and Auburn every year especially. We have played them every year for as long as I can remember.

I don’t want permanent opponents. I want an equal rotation.

I would bet a lot that LSU-Ole Miss is kept by the SEC. It’s probably just under that 1st tier in terms of rivalries the SEC will make sure are played every year.

After that there are about 5 other teams I could genuinely see being the other 2 games but give me Bama and A&M every year too.

WTF? Hell no to A&M. Who actually likes playing them and why?

In the current setup, they've sort of become our natural rival and they've ended up in the "rivalry week" slot.

I mean we have our usual rival series that have featured good games but all of them have a more heated/anticipated rival

Ole Miss-State
Bama-Auburn/Tennessee
Florida-FSU/UGA
Auburn-Bama/UGA

With Aggy no longer playing Texas, it made some sense that LSU/A&M could develop overtime into that years end heated rivalry. Its a Border war, the series history is there and after beating them the first handful of conference years we got some bad blood back and forth going with the 74-72 controversial OT game, following up with the 50-7 revenge whipping, the last minute go ahead TD, a bad Aggy team officially eliminating us from playoff contention. Over the last 5 for us it's gone L-W-L-W-L so the back and forth is there.

I thought it had the potential over time, the next decade or so, to develop into a featured rivalry game. Like an actual rivalry game and not Magnolia bowl or The boot garbage. But with Texas coming, Obviously that series will return which again puts us the unreciprocated side of a more prominent rivalry series.

Now they can play them again.

I'm with you on this and you mentioned what I just said about them more than likely facing Texas again.

Just seems like an actual rivalry, if there must be one, would be Ole Miss.

But those are just my choices. No real right or wrong answer here.

I’d prefer only two permanents.
Bama
UGA
Has anyone else proven worthy of playing in Tiger Stadium every other year?

1. Under no circumstances will our three perms include alabama or auburn. Bama will get Tenn and Auburn and Auburn will get Bama and UGA. Their third perms will be someone easy.

2. I am sure that two of our perms will be Texas A&M and OMiss.

3. IMO, our third perm will be Arkansas or Florida.

Would approach this by listing and preserving rivalries. Only after a school goes over three do they get sacrificed.

Gonna be a lot of ol' SWC and Big-8 rivalries renewed.

Exactly.
LSU-Ole Miss = Rivalry
Texas-A&M = Rivalry
LSU-A&M = Nothing but a brief run of forced dating.

ETA: I really think there is a coordinated campaign with an agenda to create these threads and push the idea of LSU and A&M playing each other. It's my only conclusion when you see these same people creating these threads and posting the same BS over and over again. How many people are so bored that they start the same threads and say the same thing so many times?

The 3-6-6 model is a good one. You will play every school at least once every two years and will go everywhere in the SEC every four years.

I would like Ole Miss-Alabama-and either Texas or Oklahoma. It will more than likely be Ole Miss-Texas A&M and either Alabama or Florida.

I don’t get everyone wanting to drop bama as a yearl opponent. Is that not always the biggest game o. The schedule? Why would a fan of sports openly advocate for getting rid of their biggest games? Otherwise what’s the point?
