I'm more concerned with a 3 year starter grading out as low as Emery. He needs to step it up. He's too talented to consistently get whipped.

do we have any other centers who can play now? anyone who can switch to center? supposedly brad davis was crosstraining.

Dellinger cross-trained at center in camp, but we’ve seen that movie before and it was rough. Granted, Dellinger was a true sophomore at the time and has developed physically since then. But his issue was executing the snap.

FWIW, Zy Alexander had an 89 against Ole Miss. That's the highest I've ever seen.

Zy should've had another high score. I don't think he was targeted once all game. That's about as good as you can do at Corner.

Emory Jones was just named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week. Maybe the PFF people don't really know what they are talking about. Or maybe it's the other way around.

I mean Nuss was winning national awards for his performance against Ole Miss, which he himself called the worst game of his career. I don’t put much stock in those

I think anyone really watching the game would agree that overall he didn't play well vs OM. Redeemed himself big time in the clutch though.

I mean I'm sure there are a few plays in which they don't know exactly what they call is, but the majority of the time, you can mostly know what the basic responsibility of the player is. Grades aren't perfect, they are just an additional data point. If you don't trust it, then ignore it.

Most scouts, coaches and players can diagnose what the defense is doing as the play is developing. I don’t think the film review PFF is doing to say what a players assignment was after the fact is as difficult as people think.

With that being said, there could be some sort of caveat on some plays that they do not know about, it’s just not as common as people think.

was targeted twice for sure.

the ridiculous sideline catch (that was called back for a penalty).
the play where Sage Ryan killed that guy.

have no clue how PFF treats either of those.
he had great coverage on the ridiculous catch, but the play didn't count.
I would guess they still grade that play because that snap did still happen (even if it didn't count in the game).

on the Sage Ryan hit, his guy did beat him, but was separated from this mortal plane by the hit, so didn't make the catch.

I'm curious what his overall grade was too. just not curious enough to subscribe to the full version of PFF to find out.

Still better than that Harvard transfer that was starting C in 2020-2021. Liam Shanahan. And this was with a 3rd round pick at RB in the backfield.

People forget how terrible the LSU offensive line was in 2020 and 2021.
2020: 3.0 team yards per carry, 9 Rushing TDs in 10 games, 2.5 sacks per game given up.
2021: 3.3 team yards per carry. 9 Rushing TDs in 12 games, 2.9 sacks per game.

And that's odd because it looked to me like he was struggling, but maybe the defenders that were getting through on the right side were not his. PFF seems to think they were.

Ty. Noted.

My point was really about youth/inexperience which I think is still valid. Still has a ton of upside.
