quote:Truth. O is easier to comprehend than Miles.
At least Coach O doesn't talk in bizarre cryptic circular generalities like Miles.

I played a few baseball games against S LA teams who did this. Pretty intimidating when the 3rd base coach tells the hitters what he wants done aloud in Cajun French.

Elitism from other fan bases and the media. Frick dem.

I think the way he and a lot of people from the south talk leads people to believe we are not intelligent and this world in O’s favor. People are like how is this guy doing it but they don’t look into the fact how analytical and organized Orgeron is.

My purely personal angle.
I am originally from Ohio, married a BR gal / LSU Grad. We live in KC but every time I listen to Coach O talk I’m reminded immensely of my late father-in-law who was from Gueydan.
His intonation, word choice, even facial expressions and demeanor - it’s like I’m watching a video of my FIL. While we had a good relationship it could have been better, partially due to the fact it took me a long time to understand his culture, the way he approached life and yes even the way he talked. All that to say I understand how people can overlook and even disparage something they don’t fully understand. It’s a mistake I’ve made myself and regret
I wish I would have had more time with my FIL and I’m thankful for how Coach O reminds me of him.

Some women like a man with a deep voice.

O took a beat up Ford pick-up truck traveling on a mud road
and turn it into a Purple and Gold Ferrari cruising 169 mph down a smooth Hwy to a Natty win.

I always wished the keyboard warriors who mocked him as "shrimp boat captain" had the balls to tell him that to his face

His gravelly voice is the only thing that some times makes it hard to deduce when he’s yelling.
Y’all sound like SJW queers

He should run out on the field with those white Boudreaux Boots. That would show em.

Reggie Bush has been quoted several times, re Coach O's days at USC, as saying " he got mocked, cruely, by all those rich alumni in L.A. for his accent, but we players loved him for it. He never tried to hide or change the way he spoke. We saw him as a real man".

Fact that he was so loved at a program like USC tells me his success is not because of how he “talks like” the Louisiana stereotype. It’s because of who he is.

I think people using shrimp boat captain as an insult have no idea what a hard job that is or the wealth of knowledge necessary to successfully run a shrimp business.
Think about it:
Shrimp biology/habitat/instincts
Weather
Long hours
High Heat
Physically demanding
Equipment care
Equipment repair
Engines
Boat construction and repair
Post harvest physiology
Seafood marketing
Business expense management
Labor laws
Wildlife laws
Anyone being honest knows it is a tough way to make a living. Those folks have my undying admiration.

Don’t matter Ed. Actions speaking louder than words.

If you look down on another person because you are unfamiliar with their culture or way of speaking or tint of their skin
Well, it means you're human.
But it also means you're an a-hole. Don't mess with my coach.

Honestly the media who mocked him for his heritage should have been fired.

He's 100% more understandable than Les, that's for sure.
