We've got some CRP in the area that was planted 2003 - found a few water oaks making nuts this yr.
That’s right in that 13-18 year range. I think y’all will have some start dropping in the next 3 or 4 years ...

re: IST/ IBT 01/18 - Four Leaf Tayback
I think we’re going to do a little CRP starting next year on the edge of one of the bean fields. The farmer across the road from us who leases a couple of our fields to grow beans on let’s us hunt his place as much as we want because he stopped hunting. His CRP is almost 13 years old and dropped...

re: Gun question. - Four Leaf Tayback
Gun is a year old
TBH, pass. As others have mentioned the newer Remingtons just wouldn’t be worth that much. If you’re serious about getting a rifle look around and see if you can find an older 700...

re: Gun question. - Four Leaf Tayback
How old is the gun? I’m hunting with a Remington 700 BDL 7 mag. Absolutely great gun. Never had any problems with it. This is off topic but my other main deer gun is a Ruger M77 in .308. Both guns have wood stocks. Beautiful They’ve been great guns and won’t break the bank. ...

re: Grunt calls, rattling antlers - Four Leaf Tayback
My brother has rattled some very nice deer up at our place in Tensas. He killed 2 nice deer last weekend. Grunt and rattled both in. I wouldn’t do it unless you have a healthy deer population and you know there are mature buck or 2 in the area. ...

Yes. My brothers both killed 2ea mature deer last weekend. Ever since that mainframe 10pt busted me 3 weeks ago I’ve passed on several nice deer but kicking myself in the arse now for not taking one of those deer. Been holding out hope that 10pt would show his self in daylight again but hasn’t. ...

re: 01/16 IST/IBT - Four Leaf Tayback
Tensas is 110 miles NW from my place in St. Helena. I bought that St. Helena property because it’s much closer to my home, work. It takes over 2 hours to get to our place in Tensas but only 36 minutes to St. Helena. There’s no comparison when it comes to the amount and size of the deer. Tensas i...
