re: IST/ IBT: 11/13/19 - Four Leaf Tayback
Regarding what scope, it depends on your budget. I have a Zeiss Conquest V4 3x12x44 which runs about $900. The only reason I have that scope is because it came off of my 7 mag when I upgraded to a new scope. If I would’ve had to buy a scope for my .35 I wouldn’t have spent that much money. A...

re: IST/ IBT: 11/13/19 - Four Leaf Tayback
Get you just a CVA Scout V2. You can get for probably $350ish. 25” SS barrel. If you do buy one be sure you buy your own 1 piece scope mount base and whatever rings you like. Actually just save yourself the head ache and buy DNZ game reaper mounts. The .35 Whelen is an excellent caliber. The...

re: IST/ IBT: 11/13/19 - Four Leaf Tayback
How did these group for you?
Pretty damn good. Not as good as the 200gr Hornady SPs though. I should’ve stuck with that bullet. My gun actually likes them. I know a lot on here hate Hornady but the groupings I was shooting at 200 yards were just as good as my .308. No bull shite. Bar...

re: IST/ IBT: 11/13/19 - Four Leaf Tayback
I’m getting to where I dont hate them that much anymore to freeze.
I think I’m almost at that point in my life where I feel the same. I saw some good deer the last few hunts but never slung an arrow or pull the trigger. I very much enjoy watching them. I’ve been blessed to hunt...

re: IST/ IBT 11/12/19 - Four Leaf Tayback
Watching 7 right now. The high wind definitely isn’t ideal but if you’re setup good you’ll sometimes catch them slipping after a strong front despite high winds. 3 younger bucks and a few does out feeding now. Tomorrow will be the money day though. ETA: I am shocked to see this many deer moving ...

re: Preferred .35 Whelen ammo: - Four Leaf Tayback
I use 180gr Barnes Vor-tx.
I wanted to shoot 180gr but I let someone talk me into the 200 when I first got my .35 several years ago. I’ve had good luck with the 200gr but I might see if I can find some 180gr tomorrow and sight my gun in with 180s tomorrow afternoon or Friday. I’m ...

Preferred .35 Whelen ammo: - Four Leaf Tayback
Was curious what manufacturer, grain a lot of you shoot out of your .35 Whelens? I’ve always used the 200gr Hornady Superperformance (know a lot on this board hate Hornady) and have had excellent results with it. The reason I bring it up is because I bought my brother a new .35 Whelen as an e...
