When Jake Gibbs was the Ole Miss baseball coach and would call a time out to talk to his pitcher in Alex Box they would always play an audio of it.
One time someone in the stands yelled, "Hey, Jake. Do you think you'll catch him this time?"

"An incredible run"...Deitzel said later that the most incredible aspect of the run was that Cannon was even able TO make the run. He said the humidity was off the charts, the stadium was packed, keeping the heat locked on to the field. Cannon was playing both ways, so he seldom came off the field, for 4 quarters by the end of the game. Videos post run show Cannon sitting on the bench, sucking up oxygen out of a cannister.

of course all TV stations used to show it right on Halloween are near the LSU Ole Miss game every year.
This year, HALLOWEEN falls on a Saturday and these "Legendarily Stupid Idiots" have Ole Miss playing Auburn and LSU taking on Southwest South Dakota Opendate Institute of Culinary Arts.

Part of it while the music is playing.
On one rare occasion Ole miss actually showed most of it in their stadium before the 2003 game.

The white team played both ways, but we substituted the go team on offense and the chinese bandits on defense so the white team did come off the field.

I have heard the replay 10,000 times. Cannon left the field before the extra point. “Listen to the cheer for Billy Csnnon as he comes off the field, great all American” by JC Politz.
The entire game was on youtube if you can still find it. So is the Tennessee game we lost the next week (celebrating too much).

They show about 4 seconds of it during the recorded Dan Borne "It's Saturday Night In Death Valley" speech. Which I guess only happens on games that start or finish at night. So maybe not every game, but most.

There are a few seconds of it on the clip that introduces the 4th quarter.

Quick fun fact; my pa n law was on that team and returned punts. He had returned 3 punts that night and had a calf injury at halftime. Mr Cannon would return punts the rest of the game. My fil , Cannon, and J Robinson were best of friends even as they aged. I had the pleasure of dining and talking with them over the years.
Anyhow my father n law would always joke that if he didn’t get hurt Billy would have never won the Heisman. It was a blast to hear them talk about football back then way back then. Compared to the players in the 50s & 60s these guys today have it made.

Funner fact:
That was a ghost. It was halloween night. He doesn’t even show up in “original” true, unedited footage.

Because Tiger Stadium had 500,000 fans that fit in
Tiger Stadium that day. Don't believe me? Ask any
old time Tiger fan over 80 years old. They were
all there.

I watched that you tube video of LSU/Tennessee. UT used the single wing offense. That was worth watching. LSU defense was dominant. LSU missed a field goal and UT got a pick six. LSU recovered a fumble inside the UT 10 that allowed them to score a TD. The 2 point play was off of right tackle/end and away from the camera. You do see an official signaling that cannon was down around the one but it was not obvious.

Not only was it one of LSU’s first highlight videos it was also one of the first national highlight videos. Many of that era with no affiliation to LSU said they saw the play in movie theaters that year when news flashed instead of coming attractions.

This is what AI has to say about the referee:
Yes, according to the legend of the Billy Cannon Halloween run, a man dressed as a referee actually ran stride-for-stride with Cannon for the final yards of his famous 1959 punt return. The individual was a local high school referee who couldn't get a ticket to the game, so he wore his own uniform and stood behind the bench to watch. When Cannon broke free for his 89-yard touchdown against Ole Miss, the man hopped over the sidelines and ran down the field, causing fans (and Cannon himself) to mistake him for one of the game's actual officials

And an Ole Miss fan to boot. He was a ref for high school games in Mississippi. Apparently couldn’t get a ticket, so he went back to his car, got his uniform and walked in through the gate the refs used.

He was humbled like few folks have been.
