No need ro bore you with why the question, but do they show a video of the Billy Cannon punt return before every home game. I don’t think so, but a friend wants to know.

It’s a top five ( or best) defining moment of LSU football

LSU - Ole Miss were both serious national contenders back then....and the rivalry was vicious!

And it was an incredible run....

Seems like they do. If I remember correctly, it's one point in time during the pregame the run or at least part of it is shown. I just be honest, can't remember, but of course all TV stations used to show it right on Halloween are near the LSU Ole Miss game every year. You don't see it that much anymore. I still love to go on to YouTube and listen to the famous JC police call. What an All-American I love it

Ole Miss gave up a total of 21 points that whole season. And that punt return was 1/3 of that.

He also made a goal line tackle later in the game to prevent the tie.

Fun fact: the referee shown running alongside him was a guy who sneaked on the field in a referee uniform.

People have forgotten the DEFENSIVE play Billy Cannon made near the end of the game that sealed victory. Without that play the Fightin' Tigers lose.
I'm told I was conceived that night!

I’ve heard that was an urban myth, I’ve heard so many versions I don’t know the actual truth

I found this

The “Unofficial” Official

quote:

And then, with the jaunty air of a man in charge and with the audacity of a thief, Rogers clickedy-clops up the walkway to the gate.

Rogers doesn’t say anything. He doesn’t have to. The attendant just opens the gate, and in Bill Rogers walks. But he doesn’t stop there. No, he heads straight down to the field and plops down on the Ole Miss bench.

Funny thing happens when the real officials arrive. “Who the hell are you?” the referee asks.

Fake official visible on fabled run

Bill Rogers, now 65 and a car salesman at Van-Trow Oldsmobile, laughs as he tells the rest of the story.

“There was nothing I could do but tell the man the truth,” Rogers says. “When I told him, he just laughed and laughed and then he told me to enjoy the game. He said, if anybody asks you what you’re doing, just tell them you’re a back-up in case one of us gets hurt.”

Rogers did just that, walking up and down the sidelines, following the play up close and personal in what was surely one of the greatest games in college football history.
