Not happy but it isn't like the last Mike ever went into the stadium anyway. Also realized why he never went into the stadium after seeing them lugging Mike around for a 6:00 game starting at 10:00 AM... well I wonder why he doesn't want to get into the cage and stay there for freaking 5 hours.

That's what I'm saying, man. There's other ways to make the day less stressful on Mike.

I don't have a big problem with it but this latest development does make me question how many times Mike VI actually refused to get in the trailer.

Fireworks < tiger

Get rid of the stupid fireworks and cannon. We didn't have those until the last decade, so they are clearly far less important than the 80 year tradition of a live tiger mascot making a round at the stadium on game day.

I am glad we are getting another Mike. And his place is in that enclosure and NOT in a small trailer to be dragged around in front of 102K screaming fans. Cats are different than most animals and Tiger cats are NOT social animals at all. We LSU fans need to respect that about Tigers.

It's hard to win an argument against groups like PETA when we were literally parading a wild, endangered tiger around 100,000 very loud screaming fans

You make it sound like the stadium was always at fever pitch like we had just scored in a huge game when Mike would be brought in and wheeled around. This most certainly was not the case.

Just have a live camera that follows Mike during games and provide a "Mike" jumbo-tron at each end of the stadium.

Sure it is. Tear down that stupid habitat and make more parking. We could use it.

I don't understand why someone doesn't raise the money to build a nice big enclosure that could be brought into the stadium instead of that little cage. It could be made air conditioned with thick plexiglass material. That would make it much easier on Mike to come into the stadium.

So what your really saying is, millennial Tigers are just as big a pussies as millennial humans...

The leftist PC crowd works harder than any group on the planet to dispose of great traditions and change the mentality for "fairness" for all, even freaking animals.

I can guarantee you that this policy was introduced and pushed by one person - King Alexander.

Last year, King was pushing hard to end the live tiger program entirely. He wanted to transform Mike's habitat into a "Bengal tiger memorial."

Sounds like a horseshite concession to hypersensitive animal rights activists.

That was all a lie. They stopped trying. The head vet said Tigers "aren't food motivated". Bull shite. Tell that to all the other handlers that got the other Mikes in the trailer with meat. Not to mention Mike sure got in his trailer fine to go to Mary Bird Perkins.

It was all smoke and mirrors to get people used to the idea before today's announcement.

Exactly. The people at PETA are bat shite insane. I donate to local animal shelters, but if you listen to PETA's goals you'll realize they're fricking crazy.

You act like he was informed that he would be brought in front of 100,000 screaming people and then took time to sit and think before making a decision. His "decision" consisted entirely of whether or not to get in his cage.

Get real. You know damned well that making it his decision is simply allowing him to chose whether or not he wants to go back out after he has had the experience a few times. Of coarse, I most likely wouldn't want to get stuck in that little cage for hours over hanging in the enclosure either.

Personally, I don't see it as torturous. But that's just me. Maybe if they would give some kind of food incentive to go on the ride then the Tiger would be cool with it? We'll have to ask a Tiger whisperer.
