I actually really like that location, would be interesting to see what they do with the PMAC when the new arena is done. Also, I get the 15K plus for concerts but man that is just way to much for basketball, hopefully they figure out a way to still make it feel like fans are on top of you and close with that much seating.

UNO has made a killing over the years on Lakefront Arena, which also has an outside group booking it. It's one of the highest revenue venues of its size in the country. You don't have to have 20,000 seats to be profitable for non-sports events. This is something both LSU and Baton Rouge need to make happen and make happen now.

Watch this video. Moody has a halo that comes down during basketball games. Allowing it to become more of an intimate setting when needed.

The Moody Center at Texas is the model LSU is working towards. 10,500 seats for Texas basketball games. But can be expanded to 15,000 (or so) for concerts and other events. It allows LSU to get a new arena (without having to fully fund a huge price tag) and the city to get a venue better suited to attract better events. No offense to Lafayette, but there's really no reason BR (the second largest city in the state and centrally located between Nola and Lafayette) should be getting passed over for quality acts/concerts, etc. Yet, the Cajundome consistently gets more, and bigger acts than the River Center.

I just hope they coordinate with the city & state and get the proper infrastructure in place before this thing is built & opens.

Maybe they should just raze that and put it there. It isn't the BEST location, but it would work and it would be feasible. Section 8 housing areas and college bars can't be that expensive to buy out.2 birds, one stone.

Problem is LSU sports will never fill that type of arena even for women's hoops and gymnastics and definitely not men's hoops. Plus Mulkey is closer to the end of her career and who do you hire to replace her.

I’m not complaining as a new arena was needed 20 years ago, but I’ve got a hunch that they’ll build a big, boring, bland, sterile arena.

You’re a moron if you think this won’t bring in a ton of activity to this area for new developments. This is literally exactly what the city needs. This could transform that area and make it mixed use walkable area. Everyone will win. I was calling for this months ago
